A collection of down tempo grooves in celebration of the World Cup 1998.

Listening to CD Review on BBC R3 through NDS iRadio. I really do miss my NAT01 tuner. The NDS is a poor substitute.

Hope it's better than the Rhino double.  There is a lot of compression on that albeit the balance hasn't been ruined with EQ.  The early CDs take some beating for Jackson Browne.

Also known as "The Eight London Suites".

"The 1720 edition of suites (HWV 426-433), published by the composer himself, is amongst the most important collections of Handel’s early works. Handel’s early biographer John Mainwaring noted that the “fullness and activity of the inner parts” of these keyboard works ensures that “few persons are capable of doing them justice”. Smirnova who has worked extensively on the Eight Great Suites, rises comprehensively to the challenge, on the modern piano, in these recordings made at Schloss Goldegg in Austria." (ECM)

This set of Eight Suites for Harpsichord is wonderful indeed!

I have the by now quite old Naxos recording of them by Alan Cuckston playing the Harpsichord. Also Excellent in every way. Quality is just as fine as DG Archiv would have brought, and Cuckson is an assured player who brings out the the depths of the music just as well as the joys!

Out of the way music that ought to be as famous as JS Bach's keyboard for Harpsichord, such as the Sixth Partitas, and the sets of English and French Suites.

ATB from George

Funny, three days ago I was thinking hard who I haven't listened to for a while and who I needed to listen and I pulled this off the shelf too.  I love it...
