Famous Karajan/Berliner's Triple Concerto which I never warmed up to. I pulled it out and listened again. Nope. Still not doing anything for me.

Karajan+co. spoils it with a heavy handed orchestra.

Interestingly, this is what Richter has to tell about the recording session with Herbert. Start from 36:28 min. talking about how he refused to give him the right tempo and note in the 2nd movement and was more concerned about the photo session for the cover.

I like the later Kondrashin set much better.

Some early Mary Black. Compared to her later albums these songs are simpler in backing instruments and mix. More folk-like. Very well recorded. These albums are still very enjoyable even at low volumes, making them particularly suitable for late night listening.  The song Trying To Get The Balance Right is a particular favourite of mine with delicious interplay of acoustic guitar and piano.

A classic album.  Well recorded and quite enjoyable on every track.  Listening to the 25th anniversary edition re-release on vinyl.  Harkens back to a classic period of rock-n-roll.

On vinyl. It seems appropriate after my drive today through Kingston, Hurley and Woodstock.

Doug, you must have been lead astray by Led Zeppelin.

First spin but with confidence. Mr. Hamelin handles majestically anything put in front of him.

Led Zeppelin II (2014 Reissue) (remastered) (180g)

Doug, you must have been lead astray by Led Zeppelin.

Haim, more like answering my own question of, "What is and what should never be."  While going down in flames it just seemed appropriate to go down with the Zeppelin.  Or is it just time to move some of the dust off my woofers?

Storioni Trio + Netherlands Symphony Orchestra

A lot livelier and higher energy than *3 Russians* or at least everyone is on the same page. The orchestra is fittingly lofty and ostentatiously thunderous against the Trio closes the exciting 1st movement. Taut sound of timpani keeps the score crisp. Largo starts off with not overly sweet pastel coloured violin. It isn't the most intimate rendering keeping a cool composure. Fun rondo where everyone mingles together nicely. I still don't see why this score needs an orchestra.

This is a DSD SACD Hybrid Multi-ch Surround disc but the CD layer sounds pretty ok on my CD players.
