Kuma was right. Superb live album and better than Cobham/Duke's Live in Europe. Both great fun though and very uplifiting!

Prompted by HH's '1972' thread. I particularly like 'Child in Time' on this album. Nice warm-up act for the Brazil v Germany semi-final, too.

Stating the format provides complete information, and may prompt others to make inquiries regarding the virtues or availability of a particular pressing, remaster, etc. I always try to include the format, year, and year of the original release. I usually try to answer the question "and why?", as well.

I enjoy seeing what folks here are listening to, in whatever format, and keeping up to date on newer material. I also enjoy reading the longer, more thoughtful posts people take the extra effort to write. I love the album art, too! So many creative covers.

Steve Miller Band. Young Hearts. Complete Greatest Hits. On CD from 2003. Notable for the collection of songs, if not more for the SQ - as good as it gets on standard CD.

Now I am getting somewhere with this Serkin's Triple Concerto.  Marlboro Festival Orchestra and Alexander Schneider ( of Budapest String Quartet fame ) as a conductor.

Played tidy and compact but the trio remains intimate whilst the proportion of the orchestra in relative to the trio feels more right than overblown Karajan set. Certainly it does not feel like an after thought. The strings are a bit on a dry side, but this is a well put together rhythmically tight performance with the right amount of energy and intimacy for slow passages.

I recently bought this LP; Count Basie "The Atomic Mr. Basie".

The "why" is easily answered - this is big band jazz at its best!
