Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden "Last Dance"

I had planned on getting to know his music but saw the news that he had just passed away. Rest in peace. So to the "why"? Well, it's a new cd and of course I'll listen to it as soon as possible.

Bert,

If you liked this Chopin then I strongly recommend that you try his live album too:

The Barcarolle and a couple of waltzes are duplicated but I didn't mind.  I've had this one stuck in my player for a week now and this is what I am currently listening to tonight.

Enjoy,

Doug

Give me the Night: Benson's only Quincy Jones produced album. Quincy touches everywhere including lovely Patti Austin in Moody's Mood.

Album of cover songs by Birdy (Jasmine Van Den Bogaerde).  Released in 2012, but was mentioned in one of those "Amazon recommends lists" when making a different purchase.  Nice voice.

Ever since I have heard this Richter's Sofia recital, every other Pictures at an Exhibition, including the Ravel version, sounds light weight or frivolous. It's not an audiophile favourite disc due to its poor 50's Eastern block live recording in middle of winter with many audience hacking and coughing in the background as if it's in a TB ward.

Yet Richter's playing is so powerful & fresh, I am in awe every time I play it.

I have yet to encounter this type of emotional involvement with the music from a live recital.
