Steve.

What do think of the SQ? It sounds a bit all over the place to me, for instance Beck's Bolero sounds slightly slow or is it just me!

Jeff,

Why don't you contact Edna Stern directly and ask her about the availability of the "Piano Des Lumieres" downloads?

On first press UK Harvest vinyl. The Big G's best solo effort I think:

I was undecided about Rameau performed on the piano or the harpsichord, but the quiet early Sunday morning definitely calls for the latter.

Sorry Jeff, I do not do downloads and so couldn't answer to why this album doesn't have that option.  If I were to guess though I would say Air Note is a small independent so it might be a resource issue or delays in setting this up for distribution?  Maybe it will be available in the months to come?  Otherwise, it may be a decision on there part to actually not offer this option?  Could there be a reduction in recording quality with an MP3 download they don't want?

I purchased my through a seller tied to Amazon.

Doug

Hi Doug

I am sure there is a reduction in sound quality in mp3 downloads that some find unacceptable, but for whatever reason (aging ears ?) I have found the reduction in adding physical media to the household, and the convenience of computer control of my collection to be of greater significance to me at this point in my life (6 weeks to retirement).

I just tried Haim's Arkiv link.  They offer downloads, which I did not know, but alas not this release.  I will try the others.

Thank you for your response.  I look forward to your posts and often, because of what you have written and your obvious passion for this genre, have sought, found, and enjoyed your listening choices with Spotify. (As I have done also with Haim and several other regular posters to this thread).

Best Regards

Jeff A

Haven't listened to this in a while, so: Beatles, "On Air" on triple vinyl:

Posted on: 20 July 2014 by Jeff Anderson

Wolfgang Muthspiel (electric guitar) and Brian Blade (percussion) "Friendly Travellers"

Muthspiel is an artist new to me, similar to John Scofield.  I read about

another release of his in Tone audio magazine yesterday and it piqued my

curiosity. I think this album is wonderful.  The percussion work is amazing and

the soundscapes created by Wolfgang are spellbinding.  A recommended artist.

Probably sacrilege to most true classical music lovers, but this alum (on vinyl) and the earlier 'Switched on Bach' by Walter Carlos were really my introduction into classical music. I find both of these albums very hypnotic and relaxing:

Just returned from a few hot days away so first on the deck is one of my all time favourite reggae LPs

Third World and "96 degrees In The Shade"

Followed by another all time favourite and because we lived there at the time

Steel Pulse and "Handsworth Revolution"

Never even heard of Tedeschi Trucks Band before I found this thread a while ago. I became curious and after having played a few samples I decided that this was for me. Bought this one and ripped it yesterday, but I also ordered their two other releases on vinyl. It's great music!

Fancied some funky blues, so a bit of the Taj on vinyl:

Joe Henderson "So Near, So Far (Musings for Miles)"

all Miles Davis compositions, John Scofield on guitar

Noticed Dave Grohl was quoted in the news recently about the "talent show Idol". Pretty much agree with him. Anyway, this reminded me I have to listen to Foo Fighters again. On LP.
