Forgotten I had this! Bobby King & Terry Evans - Live at Let Live! ripped from CD and streamed via the Uniti2. Also have this on original issue vinyl somewhere.

Frequent collaborators with Ry Cooder, this one has Ry on guitar & as producer. Also features Jim Keltner on drums and Spooner Oldham on piano/organ. Quite a spare, live sounding CD - quite like the sound of Ry's touring band in the early 80's (hardly surprising given the personnel involved!).

Two standout tracks for me (the last two). The title track has Ry's blistering slide and the final track, a spare version of At The Dark End Of The Street, features some wonderfully delicate accompaniment by Ry.

David Gray "Mutineers"

newest release from a personal favorite artist

A lot of other people seem to be listening to The The at the moment, so I'm gonna jump in as well.

The superb debut "Soul Mining" - but on cassette in the Nak: most of the extra tracks have not been released elsewhere, IIRC...

Radio 6 DJ Gilles Peterson writes -  "This was a really interesting, stunning record. It had never officially come out, and there were only five copies of it in Ace’s library. The reason it was never officially released was because there was a fault with the lacquers. I have one of only a handful of original copies of this record. In the end we re-released it on BGP, but the original is exceptionally rare. And my copy needs some love, as it’s really battered. I pretty much broke this tune ".

Ewen, how does the SQ compare with the MOFI or recent SHM?

Haven't done a comparison yet but will do hopefully sometime this week. If memory serves me well you liked the SHM but I preferred the MOFI.

They both sound fine to me and DR wise measure the same, I can't envisage much by way of improvement so I may keep my dosh out of the checkout on this one.  The SHM is stated as a flat transfer from the analogue tapes so it will be interesting to learn what, if anything, has been tweaked for this set.

Sorry guys, I did not mean to cause a commotion. Hope you are all back to normal now!

Tony,

Have you got a US copy? In mono or stereo? I've got the Sunshine Superman LP on the orange Epic label. The rechanneled stereo is dreadful sounding. I imagine the mono must be better.

Joe,

My copy of Yellow Mellow is on Mono US (Epic) and I also have a copy of Sunshine Superman on Mono UK (PYE) which includes extracts from YM. I do prefer the US pressing though! I have no idea what the stereo versions sound like.
