Sam Cooke. Portrait Of A Legend 1951-1964. Just bought the recently released 2 LP vinyl debut of the 2003 compilation. Quiet 180 g pressings with a warm and intimate sound. Wonderful listening all 30 tracks! Thanks to Quad 33 for a post about the release, or I might have missed it.

A great start to the day - impossible to go wrong with JJ Cale. This time ripped to FLAC from CD, but I do also have the vinyl.

Sonic Youth -  Washing Machine -  on cd.

From 1995, when 'indie music' was at its zenith. This album condenses (and cleans and conditions) all the best tropes from that genre; leaving your cds even shinier than before!

Followed by one of my Floyd albums I haven't listened to for ages.

Certainly not my favourite Floyd album, but there isn't a bad one!

dave brock   ___ memos and demos ___   on cd.

this really is alternative listening, not for those uninitiated in the mysteries of Space Brock

Ozric Tentacles  -  Live Underslunky  -   on cd.

1st press Pink Island vinyl bought today at the market. Fan-bloody-tastic. I can see why ITCOTCK is my favourite King Crimson LP.

70€ in the local shop. Is it worth it? I'm slightly curious (although not hard core fan of KC).

I love that album. Unfortunately only have 2nd press but it still sounds great though.

Osprey,

If it's a UK Pink Island first press in excellent then yes that's a fair price. The book price is £100. The music is very good prog.

There is always the CD/download which would be cheaper.

Vertigo first press vinyl. Another from the market a while back.

Thanks Steve, I doubt it's not a first press. They state original UK 1970 in their web site but that can mean anything. However, I'll pop in tomorrow and see — I might buy it anyhow.

Not sure why, but haven't played this for years, possibly decades. On original vinyl and with Nick Lowe in particularly fine form:

ZAPPA/BEEFHEART/MOTHERS  -  BONGO FURY  -   cd.

Zappa's intricate musical arrangements and twisted humour are burlesqued on this live album. The result is a deranged cacophony that is not conducive to mental health. Its a good idea to listen to this on your own, or with headphone; do not to play this album to innocent people or children. I'm listening to it again because that's the attraction of madness.

John Scofield A Go Go on vinyl - why? Because its a good record and its out on LP for the first time.

Stereolab  -  Miss Modular  -  e.p. single on c.d.

This is a curious one, although as lovely and sensuous as marijuana smoke, as you'd expect, I hear some reference to Aphex Twin on one track.

Ringo Starr. Goodnight Vienna. On vinyl from 1974. The music is fun, a great cast of players, and the SQ is first rate.

My god a real blast from the past for me. I sang with them (pretty badly) one night when it was my birthday and I was more than a little pissed. But good fun was had by all.

Australian 1969 first pressing. Heavy duty- not sure if it's 180 or 200g.

SQ is pretty good compared to original UK pressing!
