I recently bought Bruce Springsteen's "Born to run" for less than four pounds. Just perfect to fill up the Unitiserve!

Yes. Achieving brilliance seemed effortless for him back then. Great record. I also have an early 70s vinyl copy but don't listen to any vinyl at all nowadays.

Great album by an American Blues/Folk Rock guy - I don't know a lot about him & am not too sure how to pigeon hole him. This is the only one of his albums I have, but I will definitely be searching for some more ASAP.

"Born in the USA" - continuing this evening's Bruce Springsteen theme. I remember so well when this album was released. It really made an impression and although it contains several big hits I never became a real fan of his music - before now

Rounding off the evening with a couple of songs from Foo Fighters' "The Colour and the Shape".

Sounds magnificent and mighty through the Focal Spirit Classic!

I watched the film when it first came out and can hardly remember it. I really enjoy the ST by itself but  I must be in a very "good place" to listen to it and today was one of those days. I have been a Philip Glass fan for a long time and it is a very special album.  I think you'll  enjoy it.

Hi Haim,

Looking forwarding to listening impressions.

Pat,

The same great quality of musicianship as well as sound with an extra dimension added with the playing of a five string cello. Highly recommended.

Sokolov's Diabelli Variations recorded in 1985. It's not certain if he had to do an extra take afterwards but this is a live concert he plays straight through.

Sokolov has a similar transparent glacial coolness as Ricther on these pieces. Completely emotionless and unmoved in composure.
There isn't much in a way of lyricism or sense of humour but his stern disciplinary approach lets the music come through unadulterated. Any interpretation is a listener’s burden. Exquisite handling of slow movements.

On vinyl from the early 70s - the very talented & sadly missed Dory Previn. After all this time, I still find the title track 'Mythical Kings & Iguanas" incredibly beautiful & hypnotic.

Again on vinyl while I'm waiting for my NAS to update. Could have played any of their albums - always worth a listen.:

Have you had a chance to come to any conclusions or preference yet?
