Inspired by Mr Fjeld post. Playing this free CD from The Word in 2012 shortly after Jackie died, which acted as a fitting tribute to this maverick Scottish troubadour..

A blast from the past.

John Lennon. Rock 'n Roll. 2004 remixed/remastered CD. Yesterday, I quickly A/B'd the 1980 reissue vinyl versus this CD. I'm giving the CD a proper listen this evening and definitely prefer the digital . More clarity, a better defined bottom end, and the CD absolutely rocks! The toe is a tappin' .

........ oh, and there's bonus tracks.

Jethro Tull "Living In The Past"

Unusually upbeat swift Missa Solemnis.

10 minute shorter than even Toscanini/NYP!

This was a nice low energy acoustic hifi demo disc back in the day.

I wish they'd make a high res file vinyl altho, even a CD sounds pretty darn good.

Ha, fancy that!

its from HD Tracks. Truly wonderful sound.

Definite demo material

I even have it in a short lived DVD A format disc. Remember that *dead* format?

It played pretty darn good even in a Meridian DVD/CD player.

Here's another popular demo disc from the late 90s.

I usually do not care for any of their *Chesky sister* discs, but this one I still enjoy for the music. At one point, I think I had all of Sara K discs but now this is the only CD I kept.

Pink Floyd. The Wall. Columbia CD from 1992 (I've thrown my 2011 remaster to the Dogs). I've got the house to myself tonight, and when I do, this is certainly one of my ritualistic listenings, played at solid room resonating volume. Tonight is no exception. Unequalled soundstage among my library. At a certain point, I'd swear there is a helicopter gyrating in my listening room. But that has little to do with musical enjoyment, does it .

A quick blast of Ocean Colour Scene to waken me up before I bite the bullet and upgrade the software on my Synology NAS.

I guess it's a reflection of my advanced age that I can't help continue to think that OCS are a very promising up and coming band. I didn't much take to other (now much more famous) bands of the time, but always liked OCS.
