........ oh, and there's bonus tracks.

Hi joerand. Thanks for this very interesting, just ordered the CD.

Regards Graham.

You're welcome, Graham. Hope you were able to find the 2004 CD as there is also a 2010 remastered edition I see on Amazon, but apparently without the bonus tracks. I'm not sure if that later edition is remixed, and I haven't heard it. The 2004 project was "personally supervised by yoko ono". Despite the negativity that typically surrounds Yoko, I think she's done a fine job on the remastering projects of JL's music that she's been involved in. She's also been a great purveyor of her husband's humanitarian legacy.

Donovan's Greatest Hits. On 180 g vinyl from 2010. Much quieter than my original vinyl from 1969, but without the gatefold cover and booklet.

I just picked this up used:

Am I the only one who thinks the mix/sound quality leave more than a bit to be desired?

Wings - London Town

Yo-Yo Ma's Grammy Award winning Bach Cello Suites No. 3-4.

This actually sounds quite good. Very likable even to a classical neophyte like me. ( no wonder it won the Grammy )

My first exposure to Beethoven's Missa Solemnis was by Nonsuch recording of Wand/Gürzenich Symphony Orchestra.

Kyrie intro oddly feels very comforting. Credo is just beautiful and uplifting with tinge of dark shadow. A solo violin on Sanctus is atypical of Beethoven as it is a full of schmultz. In spite the missing low end authority, majestic and compelling Agnes Dei. Wand's direction is rhythmically charged with a *holy* ghost like translucency but potent as being baptised in a cold water.

Wand is known for his Bruckner pieces but I equally admire his Beethoven work so far.

A couple of Queen classics to get me going on a Saturday morning:

followed by:

I think MDS posted something similar a day or so ago. I used to intensely dislike Queen and their music at their peak of fame, and used to get very annoyed when Brian May came top or close to top in polls for the 'Best Guitarist'.

Now I think that they are great, and that Brian May is indeed a fantastically creative guitarist.

Felt much the same about Roxy Music and AC/DC to name a couple of others. Now I quite like Roxy's old stuff and love AC/DC.

Strange!

Oops - the 2nd Queen album was 'A day at the races'
