Other Lives - Tamer Animals

Other Lives - Tamer Animals. MP3. Must buy it and rip to flac. Brilliant album - sort of Mumford and Sons meets Morricone.

and ...

Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More

Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More. FLAC. If you haven't heard it you need to. Difficult to describe their music but very enjoyable.

Well.

I had this album on pre- order and cancelled after hearing a couple of songs on YouTube and Radio 6 music and also listening to the guy who introduced me to Jenny in the first place on this forum, I knew in the back of my mind that resistance would be futile and so it proved. The vinyl arrived today and I have just finished listening to both sides. So, lets start with what it is not, it's not   'Rabbit Fur Coat', or  the wonderful  'Acid Tongue'. The sound is big but there are not enough raw edges or the folksy, indie gospel vibe that defined RFC or AT. However, my partner loves the pop vibe and it may become a grower?

I think MDS posted something similar a day or so ago. I used to intensely dislike Queen and their music at their peak of fame, and used to get very annoyed when Brian May came top or close to top in polls for the 'Best Guitarist'.

Now I think that they are great, and that Brian May is indeed a fantastically creative guitarist.

Felt much the same about Roxy Music and AC/DC to name a couple of others. Now I quite like Roxy's old stuff and love AC/DC.

Strange!

Not wrong, stuff that used to annoy the heck outta me and now as I'm older I love..funny that!!

I blame the forum, wish I could send it an invoice for new music and old!!!

Listening to the HDTracks version of this.  It's a lovely lovely album and tribute to a great musician who will be sorely missed for a long time.

A sense of mystery and suspense punctuated by occasional *screams*. Film Noir like sinister overtone. Violin seems a tad fussy adding to the mad nightmarish atmosphere. Almost like tangling of fine silk threads or cob web. Bartok creates sureal background remidning me of German Expressionistic background of Dr. Caligari.

I like it.
