First time listening to Martha plays Bach. Pure and simple. Gentle but urgent. Bold but fragile. Precise and clean but there’s nothing mechanical about her playing. Surprisingly Argerich puts full of human emotions into the tunes.

Potent direct communicator.

Probably not for every one, but I find it very enjoyable.

Out of curiosity, Iv'e ABed with a CD reissue. This one gives a compelling argument for vinyl's sonic superiority over digital.

Kuma,

I will join you with an old favorite Argerich/Bach recording in the company of Maisky:

Haim,

Finally I am listening to your Bach CD.

I see why you like this. It sounds like Ma Recording!

...and my old *stand-by* Gould's Bach.

1942 Berlin recording.

It feels tremendous heroic approach is employed here for Hitler’s birthday bash concert. Adagio does not have the feel of hopefulness as Toscanini set but a sense of doom. Perhaps due to the historical backdrop when this set was recorded. Chorus must have been tremendous. Even with the poor fidelity I can feel the power. The finale ends with the biggest bang out of any 9th I have heard to date.

Musically strong but politically poignant.

A couple of really enjoyable albums to start me off this morning from a couple of excellent bands normally branded as 'Alternative Country' (whatever that might mean).

Still on a Krautrock kick. I bought this double LP - a repackaging of the 'Werk's first two albums following the success of "Autobahn" - in June 1978, on the Vertigo "spaceship" label...

Kuma!

The thing must have been sitting in your IN tray for at least two years…  You direly need a musical assistant. Is Riccardo Muti available?

A new S/H purchase because I had not listened to Little Feat for a very long time.

Still more Krautrock - this time it's Faust IV, on CD:
