One more thing about Snorkel: their drummer, Frank Byng, is a busy man. You can find him playing in Crackle and Prescott.

I like Crackle's Heavy Water very much, it's complex and intriguing music. Very good, certainely worth a listen. If you like Glass Darkly I think you might like this one as well.

As for Prescott's One Did, I'm still undecided. I find it a bit monotonous, but if you're an electric bass fan, it's certainely for you. Great playing.

Both are from Slowfoot Records on Bandcamp.

Because I felt like listening to another great guitarist after the Jeff Beck album.

Couldn't really say why, but all this talk about kraut led me to:

Richard Pinhas, East/West [1980]

The French electronics/electric guitar blender, leader of Heldon. I've just seen that Cuneiform Records has many of his albums -- as well as Heldon's -- re-released on Bandcamp, along with albums from the likes of Hugh Hopper, Elton Dean, even some from Soft Machine and Robert Wyatt, and lots of what looks like very cool stuff. Damn'!

I've always loved this cover, I wish I had this album on vinyl. It's from the seminal but popular French comic-book author Philippe Druillet, who filled many of my sci-fi dreams (and nightmares !) in the seventies.

This album sounds a bit dated now, but still powerful stuff. I must check his newer output.

Some really great Zeppelin covers - Hi-res download from HD Tracks before they started blocking non-US downloads.

Followed by the real thing (Hi-res download from Qobus):

Cheery music on a wet day while continuing with some favourite guitarists

Posted on: 12 August 2014 by Hmack

Inspired by Steeve_S and his selection of favourite guitarists;

I'm a fan of Carlos Santana (especially on the Abraxas album which was hardly ever off my turntable when I was a student), but for me (and also for BB King), the best of the all was Peter Green

Genesis - A trick of the tail

Bowie - ziggy stardust

Traffic - Low spark of high heeled boys

Israel Nash Gripka - Rain Plains

Fever Tree - Fever Tree

All vinyl.

+1 have been a big fan since I first heard Albatross as a very young lad. Some of the Splinter Group music is also very good (generally the tracks where Nigel Watson takes a back seat) and the cds are really well produced and sound fantastic ripped and played through the nDac.

I picked up a first press stereo copy in great nick today and I've just played it and the original first press mono that I have which isn't in such great shape. Funny, but I prefer the mono version.

John Cale - Slow Dazzle. Because I am reminded of his gig at St Andrews Uni in 1976.

I'm also eagerly awaiting the LP but haven't downloaded it yet - not sure how I store it on the Unitiserve... What do you think of Touch and Flee? Is it good? I really liked The Face Of Mount Molehill

Just finished listening to Nils Petter Molvær's "Khmer". This guy really is like Miles Davis on a solid trip of Electronica!
