Decided it was enough Jazz for one evening and have resorted to "Skin and Bones", an acoustic live recording with Foo Fighters.

I think is the X is by a bloke called Ed Sheran or something like that.

Thanks Tony! I haven't heard of him but I'll check out his music.

You're welcome but please approach with caution as I heard prolonged listening might permanently destroy some brain cells!

HD Tracks download 24 bit 88.2KHz. His best solo effort since The Nightfly.

I hope it's better than the CD or vinyl as I found both sounded very compressed.

A very nice CD rip through the Hugo.

Elvis at Stax.
Listening on a Samsung Galaxy tab through Sennheiser px100 (mk2) in a tent in St Ives while enjoying a bottle of rum.

Very delicate playing

Earlier ...

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick

Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick. 24/96 new mix on Qute. Very good quality. Good to hear an old favourite so clearly again.

Followed by ...

Hagalaz' Runedance - The Winds That Sang Midgard's Fate

Hagalaz' Runedance - The Winds That Sang Midgard's Fate. Ripped to FLAC. Sort of medieval, pagan folk. Very enjoyable. Will look out for the other albums but only the MP3 versions seem to be afordable at the moment,

And now ...

Fuzzy Lights - Rule of Twelfths

Fuzzy Lights - Rule of Twelfths. FLAC. Another Bandcamp download. I already had Twin Feathers and loved that (recommended here) and so bought this one along with 'A Distant Voice'. Almost a 'Prog Folk' feel to some of it. So far I prefer Twin Feathers but it;s early days yet.

In the Wake of Poseidon

“Perhaps the one that impressed me most is a magisterial account by Janos Starker of the magnificent Sonata for solo cello by Kodaly, coupled with an equally fine performance of Kodaly’s Duo for violin and cello, in which Starker is joined by the legendary Joseph Gingold.” – Robin Golding, Gramophone

Wild Things Run Fast

Monteux/LSO's 9th is pacy and starts out good and lively but somehow it can't sustain my interest.

Most fascinating is the rehearsal recording included in this set where he tells the orchestra how he wants where rhythmic accents should be played out.

With the Beatles

Posted on: 13 August 2014 by kuma

It's been a while since I've listened to any Rachmaninoff.

Previn/LSO's Symphonic Dances is very Hollywood-ish.

Dire Straits. Love Over Gold. On WB vinyl from 1982. The last of the band's analog recorded LPs. I find it a strong creative endeavor for Mark Knopfler.

With a lot of rhythmic sense, good album

Original vinyl on the back of the Hitchhiker's Guide thread.

I think I have all of the Eagles back catalogue in some format or another. Think I'll dip in later on in the day.

But for now, some soothing classical music while I work from home. This is vol 4 of a very large collection:
