Bert,

In my view, their first album Meltemi is even better.

Someday My Prince Will Come

Listening to Rachmaninoff's Symphony No.1 for the first time.

It might be more interesting to read about its background story than the music itself which is like a heavy Russian 4 course meal.

I think I need a longer gestation period to fully understand or appreciate this.

Talk Talk "Essential". One of the few groups who made an effort to make music and art in the eighties - and succeeded. A total transformation from poster new romantic era to something undefinable which paved way for Brit rock in the nineties. The albums from the latter period are true masterpieces; The Colour of Spring, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock. Needless to say this group proved to be EMI's biggest nightmare and they also sued their own band for not making "commercial" music.

SONIC YOUTH  -  nyc ghosts & flowers -  on cd.  another album from

these that challenged the ghettoisation of the indie/alternative/grunge label. Includes cover artwork 'x-ray man' by W.S. Burroughs - another huge influence on contemporary American culture.

One of the ten Complete Doors Studio Albums [Studio Masters edition] downloaded from Qobuz back in March. These really do sound fantastic. So far they are probably the best hi-res re-masters I have obtained.

Jack White "Lazaretto". I quite like this - a potpourri of different styles.
