To my ears there was only a slight improvement over the CD ALAC rip. Still very enjoyable to listen to.

And compared to vinyl?

CD rip of Meddle remastered. I can't think of another album cover that has a close up of a person's nostril.

When you open the gatefold vinyl you then see it's an ear.You don't get that with a thumbnail.

Posted on: 24 August 2014 by Steve J

You're quite right Steve. The thumbnail makes it look like a nostril. Just checked the vinyl cover and yes it's obvious.

Steve it's the same with the Juicy lucy cover, it looks like she's smiling until you see a proper gatefold then you realize it's a grimace.

Thanks Steves J and C! My Juicy Lucy is still smiling which I guess due to just having the CD now. Having said that I did have the original JL on vinyl back in the day but without a gatefold, so she stayed smiling. As was I come to think of it!

On limited edition marbled white vinyl...

Solti’s handing is artificial, and eager to impress. All dressed up and nowhere to go.

Mastered by Harry Fisher, the sonic of this album is good, tho. I suspect the original UK Decca would be even more brilliant than this London pressing.

Amusingly, Hipgnosis' first idea they put to the group was a photo of a baboon's arse. I wonder why Waters and Co rejected it?

Have you had a chance to listen to the hi-res Led Zep files I gave you yet Steve?

Sorry, Steve but it looks like I'll have to come around to your place so you can have a good listen. Mind you, the Okki Nokki does a good job  but I heard the KM is something special!
