Keeping the older fashioned jazz going...
Hi Adrian,
That's the same album as this one I recently bought as part of the Prestige Mono Series from Acoustic Productions. A really good Jazz album
It was renamed after Coltrane became big.
I'm enjoying this one just as much from the same Prestige reissues. Great SQ.
1st play.
It took two years for Magnus Öström to find his way back to music after the tragic death of his friend Esbjorn Svensson and to bring out his first own album: 'Thread of Life'. Öström now presents his follow-up 'Searching For Jupiter'. His loss is still palpable in heavy, yearning tracks like 'Mary Jane Doesn't Live Here Anymore' or 'Hour Of The Wolf', but Öström has taken some decisive steps forward.

I did not realise that Steve. SO no need to go and buy your version. Mine is the 45RPM Analogue Productions Prestige series release.

Hope you enjoy it Gordon - it' a good album but I think the recent effort by Dan Berglund and Tonbruket just pips it
Final round-up of today's y" singles: Spizzenergi: Where's Captain Kirk?; Blue Nile: I Love This Life; ACR: Shack Up; Stockholm Monsters: Fairy Tales.
The "Funk 45s" box set from Rhino - 10 funky sevens in lovingly reproduced bags:

Adrian, would that be Nubium Swimtrip ? If so, its on my never decreasing pile of new albums waiting for their debut.

I've been looking at buying that box set with my Xmas vouchers Keano. Is the unreleased stuff worth it?
Arve Henriksen - Cosmic Creation on very limited vinyl. Black vinyl, white label, album title -nice and simple.
Frank Black "The Cult Of Ray" on c.d..

Yes it is and you will enjoy it a lot.

Yep, it is "Nubium Swimtrip" - great album, one of my top three jazz releases of the year...

What do you think Adrian? I've listened to it three times now, and really like it.

You bought the vinyl release of it yet?

Think I'll have to stick with the CD for the moment - I'm skint! Is it good?

I really like it. Different from some of his others. More out there, industrial and less trumpet. I really think Scandinavia is the new centre of world music :-) Well for me anyway, and after last night's two outstanding episodes of the Bridge, centre of world culture :-)
Arve has been playing concerts this weekend in northern Norway using instruments sculpted out of ice.

Yes but to be honest, the CD sounds fab as is. Plus they left two tracks off the vinyl....

I liked the "industrial" quality as well. Would love to see those ice concerts. Caught him at LSO St Luke's back in December, he was awesome.
Don't tell me what happened in The Bridge - haven't watched it yet!
Scandinavia rules!
Clannad - 'Magical Ring' on vinyl. I bought this in the mid 80's after hearing the track "Coinleach Glas An Fhómhair" being used by Mark Tucker and Doug Graham to demonstrate (I think) the then new SBL speakers which were on the end of 4xNAP135s with a front end comprising LP12, Ittok, Troika, probably powered by an Armageddon power supply.
And it sounded great at home on my first LP12 with Basik tonearm, original Naim Nait, and Rogers LS7 speakers. The musical enjoyment from that simple system was immense.
Anyway, my copy still shows the price label at £6.29. Escalated by RPI to today would be about £16.40, which I guess is about typical for vinyl these days (if it's still available on vinyl). The remastered CD can be purchased for about £4.50. It's surprising how much greater proportion of my income I used to spend on records.

Hi Kevin,
the live concert at the bitter end is certainly worth it. Sound quality is very good throughout.

One of my favourite jazz releases of 2013 though not necassarily a top one.
