Change of mood - Double Vinyl.

Nah Char. Physical Graffiti has some very good tracks but it's not as consistently good as I to IV. III is my personal favourite. Each to their own though.

ALAC CD rip. This, for me, is one of my favourite Dame albums.

I'll see your MWSTW rip and raise you a 1970s Japanese "Low" on vinyl:

Hey Kevin

Thanks to your recommendations I have also added Black CherrySupernature and Head First to my library. A bit more upbeat but I like them also.

Cant believe Goldfrapp did "Rocket", an awesome single!

Nice one Anton. Welcome to the Frapp fold!

To my ears there was only a slight improvement over the CD ALAC rip. Still very enjoyable to listen to.

Have you had a chance to listen to the hi-res Led Zep files I gave you yet Steve?

Sorry Kevin, I just noticed your post.

I am more impressed with the hi-res LZ files than I am with the vinyl. Thank you.

I'm with Char. PG's size, sprawl and huge variety makes it their best for me. Add in their supreme self-confidence, great packaging and you have LZ at the height of their powers and pomp. Imperial Zep.

I have always had a preference for his early works Kevin. Each to their own.

I remember as a teenager waiting for what seemed liked months and months for LZIII to be released and then, finally, the trepidation of that very first play. 'What's all this acoustic stuff?'  I recall thinking with initial disappointment. Then Since I've Been Loving You was reached and familiarity returned.

LZIII was a big shift for the band in those days, and credit to them for taking the risk.   It took a while for the qualities of LZIII to persuade me and I was soon converted. Apart from SIBLY, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, is another classic LZ song.

For me LZIII is my 3rd favourite but aren't we just spoilt with riches from this band?

Keeping to the Bowie theme.

Lou Reed - Transformer.

I think with a lot of this preference stuff that it depends on what you grew up with. I was into Led Zep from the ground breaking Led Zep I release which was so different to anything around at the time. For me there isn't a weak track on I, II, III or IV but there are, for me, a few weak tracks on HOTH and all the LPs after. Similarly with the Dame, I was well into his albums up to Young Americans where I lost a bit of interest. I enjoy his output thereafter but it never gave me the buzz of the earlier work. For both  I was an easily impressed teenager for their early work.

Another blast from the past. This a nice recording of a live performance.

Looking forward to the Lexington gig, supporting Knifeworld on 5 Sept. A contrast to the Kate Bush gig this Wednesday

Done with Bowie now on to good old rock.

Second Helping on vinyl.

Listening to a copy of Led Zeppelin II I picked up a few months ago, I noticed something very strange. Heartbreaker and Living Loving Maid are not 2 separate tracks but one merged track.

Searching the internet I can't find any reference to this LP, labels indicate it's made in Germany and New York, but it has a UK reference (588 498). Discogs mention a German press with 588 498 reference, but the runout numbers aren't the same.

Side 1.
Label
588198, 0654319 s2, 0654600 s2

Runout

Side 2.

Runout

Do any of the forums Zeppelin aficionados no it's origin and date.

Also odd that the LP label shows the first song on side B as "HEARTBREAKERS" when of course it's singular as in Heartbreaker.

I'd hazard a guess a very early German pressing,Probably late 69 early 70

Just finished listening to "Evig Pint" - one of the earlier albums by Kaizers Orchestra which often revolves around topics like war and mafia. I just love the sound, the lyrics and the stories which unfold through their songs.

Next up is the album "Maskineri"

That's got me stumped! I think it might be an early German pressing as well.

Fancied some minimalist funk - so CD 3 of this four-disc set:
