An evening with slight a tendency to an overdose of Kaizers Orchestra.

That's got me stumped! I think it might be an early German pressing as well.

Fatcat send the pics to the chap who runs Rare Record Collector he may be able to help.

Great site for label variations on Zeppelin.

Searching the internet I can't find any reference to this LP, labels indicate it's made in Germany and New York, but it has a UK reference (588 498). Discogs mention a German press with 588 498 reference, but the runout numbers aren't the same.

Side 1.
Label
588198, 0654319 s2, 0654600 s2

Runout
0654337/s2, st-a-691672, 28 0654 319 s2, PF

Side 2.
Label
588198, 0654319 s1, 0654600 s1

Runout
06543371s1, st-a-691671, 28 0654 319 s1, PF

Do any of the forums Zeppelin aficionados no it's origin and date.

This is an early '70s issue, probably a second press. The clues are in the label colour and also in the runout. The label colour didn't change until after Kinney bought Atlantic in 1970. In the runout the first press ends 's1'. The reference on the record is 588 198 consistent with the German issue. It's still an early copy and, if in decent knick, should sound good.

Enjoy,

Steve

PS

I forgot to mention.... I listened to my first press Led Zep II and Heartbreaker/Livin' Lovin' Maid are merged also.

There is one thing that points also to an early issue and that is The Lemon Song is still credited to Led Zep and not to Chester Burnett. This would make it pre 1973.

Steve

Thanks for the info Steve. I did have hunch you'd be the person to come up with the answers.

With regards to the S1 markings, I made a confusing mistake with details in my post, the details under side 1 are actually side 2 and vice versa. They should read

Side 1.
Label
588198, 0654319 s1, 0654600 s1

Runout
06543371s1, st-a-691671, 28 0654 319 s1, PF

Side 2.
Label
588198, 0654319 s2, 0654600 s2

Runout
0654337/s2, st-a-691672, 28 0654 319 s2, PF

S1 corresponds to side 1 and S2 corresponds to S2. Although 0654337/s2 in the runout has a crossed out 1 between the S and 2.

Lush and luxurious Karajan +co.'s Brandenburg.

Everything is supersized with impressive scale and sound but the music quickly gets pretty dull as intimacy and tension aren't there.

Lou Ann Barton.  Greatest hits collection.

Blues singer.  Came up in the amazon suggestions when looking for something else.  Never heard of her, but figure I would take a flyer on it.

2014 hits collection from the Texas Blues singer. Lou Ann Barton was a founding member of Double Trouble and the Fabulous Thunderbirds before going solo.

First listen.  So far, I like it.

And talking about space and good placement, Naims own recording, Neil Cowley 3, has got it too.
