Yes it's the Pure Pleasure / Spekers Corner reissue which is excellent. I replaced a Doxy reissue which  was / is very digital. It is one of my all time favourite albums. I still have the Doxy if you are interested it's better than nothing as I think the PP is now out of print.

Elliott Smith "Either/Or"

It doesn't happen very often, in fact it happens mostly when listening to Eric Dolphy's "Out to Lunch" or some of Miles Davis' work - typically "Bitches Brew" -  and I get this feeling that I really shouldn't like what I hear, but I do and it amazes me every single time. Now is such a time and I'm listening to Miles Davis at The Filmore series III. Pretty psychedelic or abstract - far out and lovely at the same time. My wife hates it and says it isn't music, so I'm listening through my headphones.

A very enjoyable Mary Black album to start the evening's listening. Excellent recording. I'm always impressed with the drums of Jerry Marotta on this. Rather unusual for a Mary Black album for the drums to have such prominence but it works beautifully.

DG's '87 digital recording. Oddly, this sounds smoother than many analog recording from the same label and certainly this is much better than their mid 80s CD release.

Pretty and floaty sound. Rhythmically soft and mellow. Somehow I feel like being inside an ornate Italian rococo church.

Timing wise, he's not out of line yet feels as if taking enormous time to get to the finale.

Sounding like a a soundtrack from the 50’s costume drama in Technicolor Cinemascope.
