I love Malcuzynski's Polonaise!

This is a macho sounding salt of the Earth *working man’s*  Chopin.

If Malcuzynski's Polonaise is a Clydesdale, Pollini's is a thoroughbred.

This is an aerodynamic high-speed bullet train rather than a steam locomotive.

I still have an affinity for his Heroic Polonaise from his debut album, tho.

I am looking forward hearing him play it next month at the Orchestra Hall.

Fun album (on vinyl) from back in the 70s. Anyone remember 'The Panic Brothers'? Wonderful Everly Brothers style harmonies from a UK duo!

And followed by what could be a recent US reincarnation of the Panic Brothers - 'The Milk Carton Kids' from their album 'The Ash & Clay' - a high res download from Qobuz. A cross between the Panic Brothers and Gillian Welch is perhaps the best description of this album.

The track 'Heaven' could have been lifted straight from the earlier Panic Brothers album.

Slippery When Wet 92/24 download from Qobuz, 80's rock child and just love two or three songs on this one. Bit of naff indulgence really but does remind me of that time, guilty as charged .......shoot me ;-)

Godsmack 92/24 next, then new Anthrax 92/24 download.

Ludwig van Beethoven:  Maria-Joao Pires (Piano), Daniel Harding, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra

Piano Concerto no. 3 in C minor op. 37

Piano Concerto no. 4 in G major op. 58

Pires never disappoints me.

The extremely good and well produced radio series "The Ongoing History of New Music" by Allan Cross on 102.1 The Edge from Toronto via the internet.  They are doing a special 12 hr broadcast of the series.

Listening to his Chopin pieces.

Not as precise as he once was but fun and energetic, a lot of Horowitz-ism still left with many creative twists and turns along the way. He can still *get going* aplenty.

Only Horowitz can get away with this much misplaying yet so special.

Hawkwind Quark, Strangeness and Charm -  e.p. on cd.

'Black Sun' is my favourite on this, as it has all the pounding, driving rhythmic elements of early classic Hawkwind tracks given a flavour of a rave/dance/ambient mix by studio sample wizardry - but without actually being sampled from an original track - but is in fact an original track made for this release.
