What did you think ?

I like it (two listens).   I always look forward to Ryan's music and somebody is playing some mighty fine guitar on this.  Saw him in Fall 2001 touring songs from Heartbreaker and Gold, great great show.

good listening

Gidon Kremer: violin
Giedrė Dirvanauskaitė: violoncello
Khatia Buniatishvili: piano

Two compositions bracketing the history of Russian chamber music. A revelatory account of Tchaikovsky’s piano trio op.50, juxtaposed with Victor Kissine’s “Zerkalo” of 2009, a work dedicated to performers Kremer, Dirvanauskaitė and Buniatishvili, and inspired by two lines from Anna Akhmatova: “The mirror dreams only of the mirror / Silence watches over silence.” With Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and Lithuanian cellist Giedrė Dirvanauskaitė hailed as two of the most gifted players of their generation, this newest project from Gidon Kremer is certain to be one of the events of the season. Wand's Beethoven Cycle with NDR is still one of my fave.

So polished and beautifully transparent yet the guts of the content intact.

WAV for a change...Remaster is a bit 'clean' sounding but not too compressed.

Discovered this on Spotify (maybe after seeing here) and have enjoyed it.  Anything similar you know of ?  Some of my moods this is perfect music for.  Reminds me a little of Gordon's (Voltaire) (and mine) fave Kari Rueslatten.

Hi Jeff, I found them here on this forum too. If you go to their website you will find more of their albums you can download for between $3 and $5. I have 'Pulse of the Earth', 'Apparitions', 'Before We Stand We Crawl' and 'To Kill a King'. They are all good and very similar to what you are enjoying now. Great value too if you are into downloading your music.

Enjoy

Felt like listening to some Chris Smither. His albums are all good - this just happened to be one I picked from around 4 or 5 of his albums I have on CD and in my NAS:

A great blues singer/guitarist. Slightly dodgy vocals if you want to be pedantic, but a great act nonetheless.
