This is a fast paced and skillfully done 1999 live recording of Mahler's 5th by Rudy Barshai/Philharmonie Berlin.

Oddly, this set depicts what, I imagine, would have been a pre-WW1 European Imperial era well.

Classy rendition but missing the intimacy and colours of Boulez.

Haim,

Mahler is interesting! Altho, some of the renditions do test my patience.

For lighter hearted tunes:

Nicola is one of the current babe fiddle player.

I much prefer her over Jensen/Chaily set for better integration with the orchestra.

The Beatles In Mono (Vinyl Box)

Well, I too was sucked along with the hype.  Pre-Ordered on June 17th and it came on September 19th.  Maybe Amazon is hinting a little to me to become a Prime member?

Amazon though is hilarious in how they package and ship vinyl.  This came along with two other single vinyl albums I had on order and they put it in the largest box I have ever seen or received.  It literally was the size of a small desk or the kitchen table.  My son wants to live in it now.   All this with a couple of pieces of brown packing paper.   Luckily, everything seems to be fine and undamaged but this is just plain stupid packaging as the albums would have been flying around in the inner solar system they had given it.

Now, onward and forward with the music.  Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is sounding very nice and there is no doubt now in my mind this is much better than the stereo version released a couple of years ago.

It is indeed. This and a couple by Evanescence spend an awful lot of time being played here and are have been permanent fixture in the car for several months.
