Having spent a good part of the morning with a friend listening to demos of various iterations of LP12s using a plum label of this album I was curious to try out my Japanese import CD version on my system. Not up to the plum vinyl on the top-flight Linn (as you would expect) but still pretty good

And to follow LZIII I've selected this fairly recent purchase:

Enjoyable melodic jazz

Sensual and mysterious.

On balance, the whole set is too polite. Softer fiddling from Chung's usual.

Doug,

That is an earlier Lechner playing with the Greek pianist Tsabropoulos his own compositions as we'll as Gurdjieff's.

Mischa Maisky (cello), Martha Argerich (piano)

Franz Schubert:

Sonate für Arpeggione und Klavier in A moll D 821

Robert Schumann:

Fantasiestücke für Violoncello und Klavier op. 73;

Fünf Stücke im Volkston op. 102

Vinyl - now says Decca but this was recorded in January 1984 at La Chaud-de-Fonds, Switzerland so if my memory serves me then this should rightfully be attributed as a Philips recording but you know how it goes.  Regardless, an ultra fine LP and one of my favourites - interpretation and recording.  Fabulous all around.

Hibla Herzmava, Vladimir Spivakov, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Vladimir Spivakov

Opera Aria from Mozart, Verdi, Bellini, Strauss on Melodiya vinyl

Franz Schubert:  Kun-Woo Paik (piano)

Impromptu Op.90 D.899 No.1 In C Minor, Allegro Molto Moderato

Drei Klavierstücke D.946 No.3 C Major, Allegro
Moments Musicaux Op.94 D.780 No.2 In A Flat Major, Andantino
Moments Musicaux Op.94 D.780 No.4 In C Sharp Minor, Moderato
Impromptu Op.90 D.899 No.3 In G Flat Major, Andante
Impromptus Op.90 D.899 No.2 In E Flat Major, Allegro
Drei Klavierstücke D.946 No.1 E Flat Minor, Allegro Assai-Andante-Andantino
Drei Klavierstücke D.946 No.2. E Flat Major, Allegretto
Impromptu Op.90 D.899 No.4 In A Flat Major, Allegretto
Moments Musicaux Op.94 D.780 No.6 In A Flat Major, Allegretto Moderato

Vinyl from the original 96kHz/24bit master which was recorded at the Beethoven Saal, Hannover, Deutschland on April 16-18, 2013.  Marginally bright sounding recording for my taste but what the heck - in the end it is still Schubert and a wonderful recording to have.

Neil Young: Live at the Cellar Door (Vinyl LP)

An awesome album.  For me Neil Young is at his best with just an acoustic guitar or at the keyboard but of course this is also from an era (60's/70's) that has not been equalled since.

Agree 100% with you.  I feel that the Live at Massey Hall recording is just that little bit better than Live at the Cellar Door, but they are both excellent live Neil Young recordings from a great period.

If you want to get the best version of this then see if you can pick up a Japanese 1st pressing on cd . The Allman Brothers are in your living room it is that good.
