Stevee I had this and Split put aside at the local S/H shop for weeks last year it was only Steve Js nudge that I finally picked them up.I've been a big fan since.
Goldfrapp - Tales Of Us
Thanks for approving this, but can I ask you what triggered a need for approval for this particular post. I fully understand why Naim forum administration systems intercept certain posts as a result of trigger words in posts, and I have absolutely no issue at all with this. It’s perfectly understandable that you would do so.
I just can’t figure out why this particular post would fall into this category.
Regards,
Harry

The Allman Brothers Band. Brothers and Sisters. On original vinyl from 1973. Possibly the best 99 cents I've ever spent. Gets better each time I hear it.
This is my favourite Allman Brothers album (despite the exposure of one of its tracks on 'Top Gear'). I have it on CD and also have a copy on original vinyl from 1973. Now thinking of ordering a hi-res version of the album from Qobuz as well.
Has anyone downloaded a hi-res version of this and how does it compare? I do have one other Allman Brothers in hi-res from Qobuz and was very impressed.

An understandable question! The answer is that I hadn't expected an e-mail response I sent to the Forum Administrators to be displayed as a post in this forum.
If you have a look at a previous post of mine about the Beatles White Double album, you may understand why I asked the question. I posted this item yesterday (morning I think), but was immediately informed that the post was being referred to the Administrators for approval. That approval has just been sent to me by email today and I notice that the post has now appeared, but with no explanation of why the need for approval.
I was just mildly curious about what triggered the interception.
Something must be wrong - messages should never appear - that must be why the little envelope is there. It's not as though you were selling dodgy copies of the White Album. How strange.
Hi Harry,
no e-mail or message received from you here. Every now and then, some images and image hosting sites seem to fall foul of the filters - no idea why. No biggie, there's a delay for sure, and I have to approve them, but usually no problem.
RSD vinyl...
One of the great (if underrated) jazz singers, Chris Connor. This is her 1956 album, "Chris". On CD:

Thanks for the reply Richard. Yes - it seems to have been a pretty random filtering decision in this case, since my post was no different in content to any of my other posts on this thread. .

Joe - I don't know what else you have purchased in your life, but I agree that this album for 99 cents certainly must be at the top of your value list!

I bought one of the Jazz box sets kicking around on Amazon and it had the album 'Chris Connor' on it. I had never heard of her before but a gave it a bash and was blown away. When you say she is underrated then you are not kidding, how can such a brilliant jazz singer be so unknown?
Not sure if this is the same album as yours, it starts with "I Get a Kick Out of You" and is on Atlantic.
Brilliant stuff!
ps DrMark - Brothers & Sisters a great album.
On CD:-
Hawkwind - Mighty Hawkwind Classics 1980-1985 - on cd.
compilation album of four e.p's including Sonic Assassins and Earth Ritual
"....now I don't want you to panic; just lean back and relax."
"..uuhhahhuggaugh."

Hi Bill
Yes, she's great, isn't she?
This album starts off with "All About Ronnie" and has other standards like "Lush Life", "Everything I Have" "Indian Summer" and "In Other Words" -12 tracks in all on the original album, plus 12 alternate takes on this Bethlehem Archive reissue. I recommend it highly.
Unfortunately Chris (1927 - 2009) is most famous today for being jazz's best-known lesbian, but she had a long career and worked with all the greats - Sy Oliver, Stan Kenton, Herbie Mann, Nina Simone, Maynard Ferguson, Claude Thornhill, etc - in both big band and small group settings.
On Atlantic especially, she was famous for selecting her own producers, arrangers, musicians and material. And she has a magnificent voice.
I have the album you mention - might give it a spin shortly.
On CD. Prompted by Big Bill's remarks above.
Dido "Life For Rent"
One more on CD before heading out...
Fiona Apple "When The Pawn ....."
It's almost 16:30 on a Thursday and I should be in a pub......but I'm not!
Trying to make up for that by playing some good Pub Folk music - nice music, but just not the same!
John Hiatt "The Open Road"
On CD. Prompted by Big Bill's remarks above.
That's the chappie.
Isn't it sad that she is remembered for being a lesbian. I also think that k.d. lang has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard but when you mention her most turn round and say "Ah, she is a lesbian". Not "Hasn't she got a brilliant voice" - which as far as I am concerned is all that matters.
Maria Muldaur - original vinyl from 1973. The track 'Midnight at the Oasis' still gives me goosebumps after all these years.
Soon to be followed by (streamed in FLAC from my NAS):
Jackie Leven "Creatures of Light and Darkness". It was the first Jackie Leven album I bought a few years ago. Still love this album and in my opinion his best.
