I listened to these two albums on the Mu-so via the iPod USB whilst decorating this afternoon.

I found it sounds a lot better, even on my much more basic system. All my music is in FLAC, and the UnitiServe transcodes it on replay. It means the streamer has less work to do, and less work is always good.

Doug, thanks. Ideal chamber music for a fall's Sunday afternoon.

More transparency, more air, more room around the tones. Better imaging.

Get the principle, just need to find out how to do it, what switch or setting I need to change on my server ...

Started out with Weezer's "The blue album" which brought back fond memories from my days at the uni many years ago. I wonder how their new album is?

Next at up was the total opposite of hard pounding pop rock with Tord Gustavsen Ensemble's "Extended Circle"

Right now I'm listening to Jackie Leven and one of his best albums "Forbidden Songs of the Dying West". This will be the last one this weekend.

Steve Winwood "Chronicles"

Excellent baritone sax from Serge Chaloff, and walking bass from Leroy Vinnegar. A really super record.

Oh, yes. This album and For your Pleasure created a quite an impact at the time. The Roxy-sound seemed genuinely fresh and distinctive at the time. Still love both albums to this day.

Grimaud's Chopin B Minor Sonata.

Stormy entrance of tempestuous diva and thrill a minute roller coaster ride begins. She carries on pretty much the same into Scherzo. Nothing is wrong with it except lacking a bit of contemplative and reflective feeling. Everything sounds the same bravura style. Beautifully played and dynamic, for sure but her notes do not flourish or swell.

Sometime lack of ambiguity is a good thing.

Grosvenor's Chopin Scherzo No.3 is a beautiful interpretation rather than baring one’s soul ugly and all. There is no manic depressive demon lurking behind these notes. Rather inflicted in a mild case of melancholia.
