Great album

Not my usual thing these days, but it reminds me of when I was 12. It sounds rather good at 96k with the volume up!

Some nice belly-dance percussion here which begs upping the volume : )

Debs,

We missed you. I will join you with a new arrival of a similar flavor:

2nd run, very good....the title comes through in the music

It's a softer gentler Bach.

So it does not have the Baroque textures but pensive or joyous moods are well rendered with Perahia's singing hands.

Added resonance by piano adds an extra layer and dimensions to the tunes.

A great live album

Sounds like the record is spinning faster than it should. The fastest Brandenburg Concerto 5 so far. Harpshord is decorative and flowery adding to the festive feel. It has a similar tonal and textural quality to an オルゴール. Not as intimate as fun as Marlowe or Perahia but oddly, once I get used to this blazing tempo, it is actually very enjoyable. It is like opening a window and letting a fresh air in the room. Slow movement is still faster than most but expressive performance creates the right melancholic effects.

Mostly played on a period instruments yet this set does not sound stiff or unnaturally astringent. It really is about how and what you do with an instrument to come alive.

This is a very nice digital recording, too.

A highly misjudged cover, but excellent music.

It looks pretty good to me!

We heard this performed on the world premier tour in Brighton, with Steve Reich in the audience. It was a fantastic night, and the music is very good, though not his best in my view. Downloaded in 24/96 direct from Nonesuch for $15, which is good value when you look at what many labels charge for a dodgy rehash of old stuff.
