Hi Bert,

Angela Hewitt's amazing 2010 box-set seems incomplete without her version of the AoF so i was delighted to buy a copy of this on release.

I do like it but... so far remain mildly disappointed in that despite her easy going flowing agreeable manor of play it doesn't imho convey the gritty mood of dark mystique and instead has a more appeasing approach of a jolly tempered clavier.

Sometimes i think her style is delicate enough for harpsichord which would be far more suitable and sympathetic in the Art of Flavour.

Be interesting to hear what Doug things of it : )

Debs

On contemplating on this I would agree with your assessment, while nicely played perhaps to nice. Still a couple of runs needed to get to a definitive answer on this one.

1st run, to ally rich, not yet so appealing to me, needs more runs

Steely Dan

"The Definitive Collection"

Soundtracks from 70's adult films, on youtube, because that's how my music sounds, through the wall (well, at least according to my neighbour!) I do play a fair bit of Steely Dan and Frank Zappa, so perhaps he's got a point.
