No.6:
Brilliant yet fluid and sweet.
Surprised that Reiner’s got the yen for a delicate chamber music like this. It has a real nice ebb and flow in that easy to get into the groove.
Love the happy 3rd movement the most. Such a groovy friendly set from the *rat eye* Reiner.
Warm and inviting original issue.
The trouble is it's joyless and straight-faced, rhythmically stilted akin to a monotone monk’s chant.
Sleep inducing next to lively happy Reiner's set.
Geriatric 3rd movement. It's so slow ( certain this isn't Allegro! ) sounding like a record running in a wrong speed.
I think this might be my favourite Joni Mitchell album
Not one I play much. For me it's nearly always Blue, C&S, Hejira and THOSL. But on the basis of your recommendation, I'm going to listen to to again right now.
There’s nothing inherently wrong on this set yet it feels so academic void of any life. Slow movement is overdrown and the lack of rhythmic verve is ever so apparent in the jovial 3rd movement. The whole orchestra sounds too big for this chamber program losing all the intimacy and lythe spirit. Dynamically flat, it sounds strange when the level goes down a little in the middle of the 3rd movement. ( or did the engineer has fallen asleep? ) This set comes off like a nerd trying to tell a joke but falling completely flat on his face standing alone in front of a dead quiet audience.
Another flat liners.
The Traveling Wilburys Collection. Volume 1. Remastered on HDCD from 2007. From a SQ standpoint, I think this is the best sounding CD I have and I now use it as my reference CD. I just moved my system over to an Isoblue rack and evaluating the sound with this. Fantastic musically as well!
It's like an added bonus when there are no HDCD\ logo markings and when your press play the HDCD LED lights up. Agree too, great SQ.

Kuma,
What do you do with all the failures? Recycle the under-performers or keep them in your collection?

Haim,
It has becoming a terrible problem. Unlike CDs vinyl take up a lot of space.
I need to start seriously culling soon but I have been giving away my *rejects* to friend's client's young daughter who's studying a classical stand up bass and was gifted a turntable for her high school graduation.
Most of my classical listening friends play CDs not vinyl unfortunately.
At some point, most of them are going to a local Good Will.

I think this album and Night Ride Home are both classic Joni albums in their own right.
IV cd sounds too bright on my system and overall don't like the compression on both cd's so I gave them away to a friend
There's a bit of 'brightness' on the vinyl but IV is much better than I, II or III on vinyl which, IMO, were awful. I don't have HOTH yet.
Neil Young
"Harvest"
Now onto the Companion LP. Disappointing. Over bright and nothing really that different.
Lost In The Trees
"Past Life"
Marc Cohn
"Marc Cohn"
David Gray
"Mutineers"
Pete Yorn
"Misicforthemorningafter"
On CD:-
Coldplay
"Ghost Stories"
Dave Matthews Band
"The Central Park Concert" disc 1
