A bit of a change for me now:
Schubert Lieder (Disc 4 from a 6 disc set) streamed from my NAS and with a dynamic range that unfortunately you rarely get from anything other than classical music recordings.
Just stunning through my Magneplanar 3.6Rs.!
Good idea! Just the thing while I iron the shirts for the coming week.....
EAT STATIC - back to earth - on c.d.
"epoch calypso" sounds like a mega version of the "Strictly Come Dancing" theme tune, proving that this is their most sophisticated sound to date...er..2008...
Th companion disc from the HOTH Super Deluxe box set. I love he opening two tracks especially:
SACD - Alpha 2001 : )
ALAC rip. I'm really enjoying this fine CD rip. The version of NSU with Bruce, Baker and Gary Moore, is better than any Cream version I've heard, probably because this is so well recorded.
Coming up next Mr Johnson!
I really wanted to like this album but the brass sections and the ballads just don't fit in for me with the more jazzy/bluesy feel of the other songs. Maybe a second listen might change that but I doubt it will make any difference.
Double CD. The title and packaging of this compilation are both a bit misleading, as there is as much loungecore, library and film/TV theme music on this set as easy listening. However, the scattergun approach makes for a very enjoyable and varied listen.

You might like the second half better. The ballads are my least favourite tracks but overall I enjoy it.

Not sure Steve. It has that same Steve Winwood's solo albums feel of which I'm not a great fan either but I'll have another go some other time.
Paul Simon "So Beautiful Or So What"
Looking for something to counteract the miserable weather outside. Deep Purple are definitely a blast-from-the-past. I still enjoy them, especially Child in Time, but the keyboards definitely sound like they come from a bygone era.

An absolute classic. Only thing that drives me nuts is the reverse channel with Blackmore on the left and Lord on the right. Damn!

Gosh. I hadn't noticed until you had pointed it out, Tony. I shall have to pretend I'm now back-stage!

Quite a few bands do that including the almighty Zeppelin. There's a good debate on the SH forum if you want to dig in deeper. I still find it annoying!
Paul Simon "So Beautiful Or So What"
Jeff,
Thanks for the reminder that I need to order this one . I found 'Songs From The Capeman' on CD last weekend. It wasn't my cup o' tea, but interesting to hear.

Hello
PS is an artist I can always fall back on when I need a guaranteed
good listen. I just love the rhythms on SBOSW. I have only tried
The Capeman once and wouldn't choose it often but virtually
everything else in his catalogue is top shelf IMO.

Matthew Ryan "Boxers"
first listen
Jeff,
SBOSW will complete my PS discography. I'm going to order the vinyl. About a year ago, I stumbled across a generic copy of 'The Paul Simon Songbook', one of those little thrills of picking the old vinyl shops. I agree, about the guaranteed good listen. Always top notch SQ, interesting rhythms, style, and some sort of panache. Cheers!
Radiohead evening on 10" LP
I was sitting in front of my CD collection (over 1200), trying to decide what suited my mood best after working the whole day in the yard..
Keyboard sonatas arranged for 8 string guitar.
The disc is being offered on Amazon for $6 (a new copy) or $2.42 if you don't mind a used one. Can't think of a better bargain.
Here is Galbraith playing a piece by Bach:
re:Matthew Ryan
JeffA have you heard this yet, if so what do you think?
A return to his rock 'n' roll roots.
Hi Ewen
Thanks for posting that, I was't aware there was a new release. I will definitely be checking it out. I think he is a very underrated artist, some of his releases are amazing to me.
thanks again
Jeff A
Only reason I know about it is because I got a sampler of it sent to me
I have found it on Spotify, will listen to it soon.

The first few tracks certainly do harken back to May Day era MR, rockin' stuff. Haven't focused on these lyrics yet but his recent stuff has been quite dark, which is fine, but requires some attention to the times when I choose to listen to them.
I am picturing you dancing around the room playing air guitar . I'm too old for that but the foot is tapping', indeed.
Again, thanks for making me aware this was available.

Jack's vocals on this album are excellent, he is also joined by his son Malcolm, who plays guitar on the last track.
