Rush, Signals, 24 bit flac streamed via Hugo, excellent album that includes Losing It which is my current favourite Rush track and my all time favourite Peart lyric, beautiful!
Looking for something to counteract the miserable weather outside. Deep Purple are definitely a blast-from-the-past. I still enjoy them, especially Child in Time, but the keyboards definitely sound like they come from a bygone era.
An absolute classic. Only thing that drives me nuts is the reverse channel with Blackmore on the left and Lord on the right. Damn!
Gosh. I hadn't noticed until you had pointed it out, Tony. I shall have to pretend I'm now back-stage!
Quite a few bands do that including the almighty Zeppelin. There's a good debate on the SH forum if you want to dig in deeper. I still find it annoying!
Eh?

From the audience point of view, Deep Purple (and most other bands) lined up with keyboards on the left, guitar on the right. You'd expect the recording to reproduce this in the stereo soundstage, not the other way round.

You learn something new every day! I go to concerts as often as I can and I've seen most major rock bands, including Purple a number of times, and I've never noticed that, although now you mention it I do recall that with Deep Purple last time we saw them with Skynyrd. Thanks for the info, although it will no doubt bug me too from now on!
Marillion, Clutching at Straws, only fair given that Mrs DayJay has put up with a couple of hours of Rush and, it has to be said, this is a damned fine album
SACD - Alpha 2001 : )
What a coincidence I was thinking of posting it this morning.
Perhaps my least played Radiohead album. But enjoying it now.
re:Matthew Ryan
JeffA have you heard this yet, if so what do you think?
A return to his rock 'n' roll roots.
Hi Ewen
Thanks for posting that, I was't aware there was a new release. I will definitely be checking it out. I think he is a very underrated artist, some of his releases are amazing to me.
thanks again
Jeff A
Only reason I know about it is because I got a sampler of it sent to me
I have found it on Spotify, will listen to it soon.

The first few tracks certainly do harken back to May Day era MR, rockin' stuff. Haven't focused on these lyrics yet but his recent stuff has been quite dark, which is fine, but requires some attention to the times when I choose to listen to them.
I am picturing you dancing around the room playing air guitar . I'm too old for that but the foot is tapping', indeed.
Again, thanks for making me aware this was available.
Jeff A
Ha!!Ha!!! Jeff my days of dancing round the room and playing air guitar have long gone.
Brilliant album Tony. If you like So What get yourself a copy of the first Japanese mastering if you see it on fleabay nothing comes close to it for sq. Every other copy I have heard is bright apart from that one.

Haven't posted on the SH forum for about a year and I notice the last time I was on that a lot of guys I know from the old days who were considered to be the real experts on sq have left it.
Another thing I also noticed was that the forum had turned from being a voice for good sq into a forum for compression is fine.
