Rush, Hold Your Fire, last album to accompany my last drink of the weekend

Posted on: 16 November 2014 by Haim Ronen

On a very old vinyl, after seeing her perform live last night. At the age of 75 she still has a great voice.

Bluesbreakers - John Mayall with Eric Clapton, 180g RM vinyl

I also have the original 1966 issue vinyl, which was the first album I ever bought, but (like myself!) it has seen better days!

If you have a mint copy of the Beano issue number 1242, the one Eric is reading, it could be worth more than the original LP.

Gould's Bach Piano Concerto 1 still remains to be one of my favourite.

Simply his is the a lot more engaging to listen to because it's so affectionately played. Gould shows astonishing degrees of maturity at 25. He lets me hear Bach in all new light making me appreciate how fresh these 200 year old tunes can be.

A live recording of Bach Keyboard Concerto No.1 in Leningrad with Vladislav Slovak and  Academic Symphony Orchestra of Leningrad

a month after above recording with Lenny has been made in 1957.

Mono analogue tape was acquired from Melodiya USSR in '83 released in the US For the first time for this Legacy Box Set.

Gould sounds more mature here or perhaps safer and pulled back than his usual but musicians seem to be more together here as a whole. Intro does not have the usual dashing intence lively start. Adagio is unusually drawn out for Gould but showing amasing degree of discipline at age 25.

The Cars. Their eponymous debut album on HDCD. NFL Sunday is complete, and I've moved on to prepping for painting a wall in my listening room, even if it is 9 PM. Some energetic rock fits the bill.
