disc 2

Sorry, the picture of the album cover was visible before I posted!!

Airwaves - New Day

1977 A&M vinyl. I'm trying to go through all the overlooked albums that never get played. Some good, some ok, a few destined for recycling I think! I'm very good at getting rid of music though, even stuff I never play!!

FLAC ripped and streaming

Ginger Baker on drums really fits the band on this album.  FLAC streamed from CD rip.

Apye,

How is the vinyl SQ? I only have this on CD.

I was thinking about getting this on vinyl because.....

This young man never had a bummer in some 33 LSD trips. Every one of them was a delight, everything under control. He needed only to snap his fingers and down he came, anytime. But on voyage 34 he finally met himself coming down an up-staircase, and the encounter was crushing.

Larry

Morning Larry,

As with all PT LP's SQ is excellent.

Original went back as it had a scratch on side 2 of LP1.

Brgds,

Andy.

Andy, it's interesting, if disappointing, to read that your first copy was scratched. Is this on the K-scope label by any chance? I have returned two PT CDs and one Steven Wilson CD on that label which were so severely scratched that they wouldn't rip, nor even play on a conventional CD player. It seems that the manufacturing plant used for K-scope CDs at least has some quality assurance problems.

Hi Clive,

Yes it is on the K-Scope label, but to be honest with you, this is the first one I have had to send back and I have several PT/ Steven Wilson.

Have listened to both LP's now and all is good with this second copy.

ATB,

Andy.

More Porcupine Tree, on vinyl..

Johann Sebastian Bach:  Anne-Marie McDermott (Piano)

English Suite no 2 in A minor, BWV 807
Partita for Keyboard no 1 in B flat major, BWV 825
Partita for Keyboard no 2 in C minor, BWV 826
English Suite no 3 in G minor, BWV 808

This disc is on NSS Music which is a label of Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg started in 2005.  It is hard to know when this was actually recorded as so many details are missing or sketchy at best in the very minimal program notes.  What McDermott notes is that this is the first CD of a long-term Bach project.  The music still triumphs through it is quick, light touch but very exacting.

Lots of local to Crawley boys on this album. My great mate Ray was in Brett Marvin and the TBs.

Jim Pitts was very well know in the town and played the Crawley Folk Festival for many years, unfortunately he passed away a couple of years ago.
