Great album.  Have you heard any of Dan Snaith's earlier work?

Hi

No, I haven't, I will look into that.  Tried Caribou because of PatK posting it.

Had your Farke Toure recommend on in the background yesterday and thought it very good.  Noticed either a duplicate song or they were repeating some of the same melodies of the Cooder duo disc, will have to listen again.  Good stuff.  Thanks.

Thanks for that Jeff.

You are welcome.  The other trivia/link is the above Lisa album is produced by Joe Henry.  I find Joe wonderful on both his own recordings and the production work he has focused on the last 5 or more years. If you don't know of him, might be worth exploring.

Dan Snaith has released his albums under a few different names; "Swim" (2010) was the last Caribou album, which is well worth a listen; in 2012 he released "Jiaolong" under the name Daphni which I haven't heard as yet.

If you are enjoying Ali Farke Toure, try to have a listen to this Saharan Blues compilation, it contains many interesting artists and tracks.

I had just found the Daphni connection and I will be listening to more Caribou as well.

I will check the Sahara album out if I can.  I am not a big "world music" fan but it is nice having a few recommendations.  Thank you.

Spotify is my source for a lot of this and then I make folders to store them in for future listening.  You may end up with your own folder .  Some here have.

good listenin'

Hi Steve

Yes I'm plugging them into the SN2, and I'm really enjoying them. To my ears, and to own very subjective view of sound quality, they fit my listening tastes perfectly.  Well worth an audition, the PM2s are also really good, but just had a little too much top end for me, I just couldn't get on with the HD 800s at all.

Top of the pile:

Eels

"The Cautionary Tales Of Mark Oliver Everett"

one of my favorite 2014 releases

I have been amazed by the sheer, stark, beauty of the music here. I hadn't heard of them before and really wish I had.

The Outlaws were one of my favourites back in the 70s. I still play the 3 albums I have (including this one) regularly.

Also a big fan of Little Feat. I can't believe I never got to see either band play live!

A very under-rated duo from the late 80s:

Hi

If you do, I hope you enjoy it.

Haven't given this a spin in quite while.  I've always enjoyed this DS album, helped in part by the superb quality of the production. One of those CDs that makes me think why all can't be recorded as well?

"You And Your Friend", acoustic hard left, electric hard right, one of the best Dire tracks I have ever heard.

LP

"Forever For Now"

Made aware of this by her appearance on

"CBS Saturday Morning" with music-loving

host Anthony Mason.  If you can accept pop music,

this is pretty darn decent.

Yep. And the simplicity and passion of Ironhand is another standout DS song for me.
