Some very good late night hairy Herbie jazzfunk

Debs

Decent enough album Debs, but oh what a cringe worthy cover!

Finished up my evening with this with this Italian release of Lonesome Prison Blues (May 1982 - Oregon State Penitentiary):

Really good acoustic set -- just Jerry and John Kahn on standing bass. Suprisingly good audio quality -- better than most similar "limited releases" (a.k.a., bootlegs).

CD Rip from my NAS:

ELP - 'Pictures at an Exhibition'

My old school music teacher back in the late 60s/early 70s would occasionally ask us to bring in records to play and discuss.

I can still remember the look of horror on his face when a classmate presented him with a copy of this album. I don't play the album very often, but it's worth digging out every now and again just to recall the look on his face.

Good one :-)

This is a funny thing, I didn't look at this post when I selected the below album

Bert,

I very much suspect that my old music teacher (if he is still alive - he was quite young at the time) would heartily approve of your choice!

On vinyl: Tanita Tikaram - "The Sweet Keeper"

Not as good as her debut album, but still quite enjoyable. Is this damning with faint praise?

First play of another LP rescued from Oxfam, and in pretty decent condition.

She does look as though she could be Elvis's daughter - doesn't she?

More like a hint of regret that you're no longer twenty four  ;-)

More than a hint of truth in this, Chris!

I remember the Captain came on at around 5am heralded by a Rocket Morton bass solo that sounded like the end of the world, wonderful  - also my left foot didn't stop being spongy for about 3 weeks after I got home. Fantastic festival for music - Dead memories include it being Bill Kreutzman's birthday and a screen with lyrics and bouncing ball for Casey Jones, "Riding that train high on..."

Great album, and I just love the ethereal quality of  track 1 - "Corpus Christi Carol"

An interesting eclectic mix of tracks, as you would expect from a collection of Tarantino soundtrack selections.

While the music on top is great - the prominence of the beat is a bit annoying
