Paul McCartney. Flowers In The Dirt. On CD from 1989. I haven't played this in a while and nearly forgot what an excellent album it is.

I adore this album and, for the time being at least, am enjoying this new mix which appears to offer a more open, less congested sound which makes it easier to follow separate instrumental lines.

I now have a number of these discs which come with a second disc with the recording presented at higher resolution (24bit, 96kHz) so will have to work out how to rip those tracks to the NS01 (challenging!!).

I agree Mr. Steve (what's his face) Wilson has done another masterful job on this reissue. Of the four issues I have to compare I like this one the best.

How do you find it?

There's a version of Midnight in Harlem in one of the Crossroads that's simply awesome.

Brilliant, I highly recommend it.

If you haven't already pop over to youtube and watch the Atlanta gig version.Stunning.

Yes great! Thank you!

The Steve Miller Band. Book Of Dreams. On vinyl from 1977. Takes me back to my freshman year of high school. My brother played this on 8-track in his car continuously for about three months. Finally got supplanted by Bob Seger's 'Night Moves' LP.

The Elftones & Rhiannon Giddens - All The Pretty Horses

From CD Baby:

"Celtic tunes and songs from Scotland, Ireland, England, France, and America, spanning emotions from lyrical to driving, tender to fiery. Fiddle, guitar, and vocal arrangements of mostly traditional tunes, invoking Celtic spirit and soul."

I saw Rhiannon Giddens (Carolina Chocolate Drops) with the NC Symphony this past February.  Such a wonderful voice.  She performed primarily with the symphony, but she and her group also performed 3 songs.

I was looking for any side projects she may have and found this album.  First listen.

Hi Haim,

it's ok, it has a certain drive - the only thing which bothers me a bit is the bit unusual tuning of drums

Enjoyable start of my Sunday

Thursday night's Late Junction on Radio 3's 'listen again'. Surprised myself at how good this stuff can be, earlyish on a Sunday morning.

One of the better ones in this genre

The second volume of Jonathan Plowright's Brahms integrale, which is built around the most detailed, transparent performance of the second sonata imaginable.

Cheers,

EJ
