From a box off old records that I had forgotten about, hidden in the basement.

Steamhammer- Reflection playing via  you tube. Looks like more british blues I'm going to have to buy .

A nicely produced CD, this one.  Mostly a light-hearted album by DS and then right in the midst is Iron Hand  which is deadly serious.

Nothing like Garbage to test out a system's bass capabilities.  With newly installed Powerlines in place it all seems to be hanging together rather well

House of Love , latest and  a return to early form

You know what? It's still really good.

The Mountains LP I posted earlier and the two CBS Reflection LPs are excellent if a little pricey in good nick. I believe there are reissues around.

Insteresting band Steve. Had to do a bit of "interwebbing & Utubing" as I never heard of them. "When All Your Friends Are gone" from 69'  is a great track. Thanks for bringing them to my(our) atttention.

Will explore them further.

Best

Tony,

I'm sure you must have Fill Your Head With Rock, the CBS sampler. If you do Steamhammer are on side 1 'Passing Through'. Great track from their second album.

Steve,

4 albums and I never heard  any. Mind you there were thousand of kids(?) trying to be part or the rock scene in those days.

I  did find fascinating that the recording and mixing engineer of this album, Martin Birch,  went on to produce albums by Deep Purple and Iron Maiden.

Thank you for the recommendations.

R.L. Burnside-Wish I Was in Heaven Sitting Down

Posted on: 26 January 2014 by kuma

Mostly continuous legato phrasing.  There are no moments the music grabs me by the throat. Sort of going with the flow. It's a long drawn out presentation where I loses the focus. This set doesn't have nearly the convincing power of Skrowaczewski or heart stopping rhythmic pauses of Harnoncourt. Whilst it's weighty and grand, lacking the underlying emotional pulse for me. Easy to listen to Bruckner 9 does not feel right. Järvi tends to be on a romantic side so I was not surprised by this, however.

Because it won some grammys...no big freakin deal.

Great album. Despite his "Cougar" pop stigma, Mellencamp is a diverse songwriter/musician/producer. One of America's best.

Congrats to Macklemore for his four Grammy wins, and his performance and message of equality at the show!

Bit of a trip down memory lane with this double album but it does bring a smile. I remember looking forward to their TV shows every Saturday afternoon...
