This Abbado/Argerich Mozart Piano Concerto albums is part of DG's recent vinyl releases.

I am pleased to find out that this is a low noise, dynamic excellent digital live recording. Orchestra is well balanced with a solo piano. Very low distortions throughout the frequency range giving instruments  natural colours. Low noise floor and quiet vinyl surface, too. ( did I just get lucky here? )

Anyways, I don't know what resolution file they put on this vinyl slab, but this album sounds very good. Far better than their 70s thin and noisy sounding vinyl they used to produce.

For performance, this is a mature reading for both parties and might lack a bit of spunk and liveliness. This No.20 certainly does not knock off my reference *ladies* ( Annie Fisher, Clara Haskil, et all ) but what they offer is a polished, coherent and lyrical rendition of these familiar scores. Andante reminds me of a hot lazy placid summer afternoon. Martha perks up in Allegretto a little. It contains some lovely passages and particularly endearing considering Abbado’s fate. ( he passed on less than a year later after this recording was made and everyone knew his days were numbered. )

Abbado & Argerich in 1967: Look at these cuties!!

The enhanced CD from 2007 [I'm not sure what was enhanced]. SQ is good and it's one of my favourite Air albums.

Schubert's octet on played on period instruments. The music takes to it well: sound is less dense than we are accustomed to. The performance is persuasive and lyrical with instruments in perfect balance. And the sound... wow. Just the right amount of soundstage and air, and played in 24/96, the wind instruments fill the room.

CD Rip streamed from my NAS:

The Santa Domingo de Silos Choir - "Canto Gregoriano".

Very definitely not the type of music I normally listen to, but for some reason, I find Gregorian chants incredibly relaxing and therapeutic.

Same here. Another +1 from me.

I can't remember who originally posted this comment, but "Somebody to love" and "White Rabbit" must be 2 of the very best female vocal performances of all time!

A contrasting couple of albums:

Firstly a CD rip from my NAS, the very 'American' Delbert McClinton:

followed by (on vinyl), the very 'British' and sadly departed Ronnie Lane's Slim Chance.
