On vinyl from 72:

A complete coincidence Tony - I was writing tis post just as I spotted yours.

I remember rushing out to buy this as a student, having just been to see the film. I'm not a huge fan of his other stuff, but I still love the "Superfly" soundtrack.

I'm amazed to hear that my copy of the LP is still in great condition.

I will see the man on the 15th of December. I don't appreciate this album as much as the one before. It's a bit of everything and doesn't sound like a unity. But nevertheless I am looking forward to his concert.

Super Fly is an amazing album H. Haven't heard it for a good while and  sounds even better on original vinyl. Curtis is an acquired taste and I've only got to "get" his music more in the last 10 years.  Great  music matures with time!

Always been a fan of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. "Push The Sky" is another brilliant album highlighting Nick Cave's ability to play with moods. The guy is almost like an actor the way he makes his lyrics alive. Slightly scary at times!

Recommended to me by Jeff Andersen. Lisa is the female voice on the Damien Rice album O and is sounding good here on her 2011 album Passenger.

+1 since The Birthday Party days. Poet, religious zealot and a bit of music genius but never a dull album. Murder Ballads is a particular favourite.

Yes this album seems to be made up of songs and remixes from his back catalogue. Not a patch on his "Be Good" or "Liquid Spirit" albums.

I have tickets for his concert in Portsmouth on Dec. 7th. A rare treat in these parts.

Gosh. I didn't realise this album is already nine years old! One of my my favourites.

Oh yes, Murder Ballads is a fantastic album! I was a bit late to the Birthday Party though but have had the pleasure of watching them on youtube - and dear oh dear he really can be menacing hehe

Just play it for a pain once in awhile. Always a nice reminder of the man.

Mark Knopfler - as a solo artist I have only in the past couple of years realised how good he is.

I think that he is one of those that give their best live. Never had and probably will never have the chance to see him on stage but i can drink from youtube.

Saw him and met him on the first 2 Dire Straits tours. The first tour was excellent but they bored me to death during the second tour. Played the concert like it was the albums almost note for note.

Funnily enough got a new interconnect today and I have been listening to this album tonight and hearing things I have never heard. All the little nuances are there and the back to front depth is huge. Think I need to alter my speaker positioning a little.

Rush, Counterparts, my current favourite Rush album, lots of depth and emotion and brilliant drumming; being used to test out my new interconnect.  Surprising how much extra detail there is on an album I know very well indeed
