Paul McCartney. Wingspan. Hits & History. 2 CD set from 2001. Is it Paul McCartney or is it Wings? It's both, I guess, covering the period from 1970 to 1984. Disc 1 'Hits" contains McCartney's most popular songs from the period. Disc 2 'History' has songs that received less radio airplay, but are no less stellar in my view. Presented in a nice hardbound book style case with a holographic cover sleeve. Overall SQ is good, but the vinyl versions I'm more familiar with sound better to me. As compilations go, it is a very impressive collection of songs from (essentially) a single artist.

Gould's Beethoven Piano Concerto No.1 still remains as one of my favouite. So lively, fun and fresh. Love his own jazzy wacky cadenza~ I would have loved to hear this live. Today who'd have balls to play his/her own cadenza?

Golschmann's orchestration also is right on the money. Probably the best fitting partner for Gould.

Music Matters' new 33rpm stereo Reissue.

ok. This does sound better than my Classic mono reissue or OJC stereo reissue.

Oh dear. Looks like I have to repurchase Somethin' Else and Moanin'. :/

Since i moved the stereo from the previous "wooden" room to the real one here my SBLs started sounding right, So right that listening to J. Cash acoustic records i thought that something was breaking. Shivers!

On vinyl. For reasons I don't fully comprehend he never really caught on on this side of the Atlantic. Apparently he has done quite well on the east side.  One of my favorites. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
