Another dinner music.
I didn't even know I had this ECM Corea LP. Just a piano and flute.
Released in the mid 80s I love that prominent sticker that says 'digital recording' as if it's a good thing.
Corea's first release of Elektric Band in 1986. Much more commercial than his ECM effort.
The GRP release contains groovy 'Cool Weasel Boogie'.
'Black Friday'.

On CD:-
Who would imagine that a priceless 277 year old cello being dragged across the floor could be made to look this cool!
EJ
Not big, not clever, but the way of the World these days.
Bring back Pierre Fournier's gentlemanly and modest ways would be my wish with respect to the cello ...
ATB from George
George,
Not sure I'd fancy the sight of Pierre Fournier, in a white dress, dragging his cello across the floor.

Their first album, very fine British rock band.
John Coltrane with ¾ of the classic Ornette Coleman Quartet. Don't be put off by the title. The music is very melodic, rhythmic and has a kind of raw purity to it. An interesting comparison to Coltrane's more well known albums from this period.
Personnel:
John Coltrane: tenor and soprano sax
Don Cherry: trumpet
Charlie Haden/Percy Heath: bass
Ed Blackwell: drums
Atlantic SD 1451
Rec: 1960 (but not released until 1966)

Ripped CD to nas streamed from 172XS, wish I still had my vinyl copy. Great jazz guitar licks combined with fine orchestrations.

Thanks, Dave - I don't know this one at all.

"Young Man In America" (2012)
On vinyl from 1983: Barclay James Harvest - "Ring of Changes"
An excellent album from (in my opinion) a very underrated band.
Angus & Jukia Stone
"Down The Way" (2010)
"Ably assisted by American conductor Lawrence Foster and Switzerland's excellent Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Ms. Isbin has made one of the great concerto recordings of the 20th century here. Indeed, Rodrigo himself cited Ms. Isbin's recording of "Aranjuez" as his personal favorite of the dozens of recordings the work has received over the decades. Vigorously recommended for classical music fans the world over."
On DVD, DD 5.1:
Fantastic all round video, with some great guests like Natalie Merchant revisiting tracks from the original Trinity Sessions album.. Even Ryan Adams sounds good performing the wonderful "200 more miles".
Great all round performance and SQ from a favourite band of mine.
this morning during my workout - an excellent album...
The much seen [on this forum] debut album of Agnes Obel from 2010.

Possibly my favourite album of 2014. Electronica, beautifully ethereal vocals.
Stunning.

"Heart Of My Own" (2009)
On vinyl: Barclay James Harvest - "Everyone is everybody else"
Digging out a lot of old vinyl to clean on my RCM. Another great album from BJH - a band once describe by 'Whispering Bob Harris' as his favourite.

My first listen to Celtic Moon by Miller Anderson originally recorded in 1997

I've not seen the video, but much prefer the original "Sessions" performances to those on "Revisited". (Juliet Lewis dancing in the night-time desert to "Sweet Jane" in Natural Born Killers is an enduring associated memory)
