Earlier.

An excellent Music Matters 33rpm reissue arrived today!

I am actually listening to this on vinyl but this is the only image i can find! As it is a record from 1968 that may not be surprising! I was at my daughter's school string concert last night and one of the girls played Irish Idyll by Michael Head. So I thought what better way to start a Saturday morning than with Bax's Tintagel etc.

My first ever gig MDS - Saturday March 19th 1977. Tickets were a rather pricey £4.25!

Well, well. It's a small world, as they say. Mind, I'm impressed you can remember the precise date, Kevin. Very sensibly retained the ticket, perhaps?

Ha and I was there too! Was it only one date? I bought one of the tee shirts with the fuzzy pink pig on it which i thought was wonderful. My mother couldn't understand why i was so upset when she washed it for me when i went home for a visit and all the fuzz came off.

Edited to add the album has one of the original vertigo swirls on the A side label

I also have this album. I must get it out for a play.

If you have the original 1970 gatefold issue, with the vinyl and cover in decent condition, and if you haven't done so for a while give the vinyl a really good clean, put it inside a quality new inner cover (keeping the original one safe)... these albums are going for serious money.

Moving from common trio jazz to free jazz, a lot to digest, but I assume it will grow on me...

'Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar' - Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters.

I picked this up yesterday in a record shop (remember those?). On first hearing it is clear that this is going to be a 'grower', exhibiting great depth of sound and colour. I look forward to many repeat plays.

Bert, you'll have to let us know how you get on with this over time. Are Jarrett's grunts audible?  (I assume these to be his idea of additional harmony!)

Thanks, CB

I know thanks. All my records, many more and less valuable are cleaned on a Keith Monks RCM, with new liner and outer poly sleeve. I've been a record collector for many years.

Steaming | Spotify @ 320 kbps

Agnes Obel's second album Aventine. This is the deluxe version on Spotify which includes additional tracks, a few remixes and some songs she did for a Deezer session.

For anyone that is not familiar with her and likes pure (ethereal) female vocals, piano, cello, double bass, strings, then do try and get listen. This and Philharmonics are now on my to but list.
