partly the same, for me à Nice album
Inspired by Tony's Humble Pie post
The V.I.P.s - The Complete V.I.P.s
Streaming - CD rip to FLAC
The first band Jimi Hendrix jammed with when he first came to the UK. The V.I.P.s were the (R&B) house band at Scotch of St.James' club at the time. An interesting history, the band contained Keith Emerson for a while; when he left to form The Nice, the remaining V.I.P.s changed their name to Art, and after one album changed it again to Spooky Tooth. After a couple of years bassist Greg Ridley joined the newly formed Humble Pie, and a year or so after that guitarist Luther Grosvenor changed his name to Ariel Bender and joined Mott the Hoople.
Thats some history and some more, DS. Thanks for sharing!
Delicate playing while I also like Lang Langs playing of these pieces
Hi Bert,
how do you rip your music to get 2116kb files? And does it make a difference?
thanks
Ralph
I think that's a 44k 24 bit download. A CD rip is 44/16. I have a couple of 44/24 and they do sound better.

Thanks Tony.
Spooky Two is well worth a listen.
as is Art - Supernatural Fairy Tales
I thought that the band's singer, Mike Harrison, was one of the most under-rated vocalists in Britain at the time.
Thin Lizzy, Jailbreak, a classic guitar album full of wonderful melodic rock to calm me down after watching Liverpool scrape a win, flac streamed via Hugo

Thanks Tony.

DS, I do have Spooky Two on vinyl although have not listened to it for a while. Will check Art's album on your recommendation. Thanks again.

Last months new three sided double vinyl release.
Last months new three sided double vinyl release.
Had a listen the other day, Stu. From the sublime poetry of PSA to this mental heavy onslaught. Love Nicks albums. Listening to Live from KCRW at the mo. Good to have you back, man.
Marillion, Clutching at Straws, it may be derivative but its still top class prog rock even if it was to be the last Marillion album with Fish as lead singer. A shame really because it includes some of their best work and neither the group nor Fish hit these heights again (although a Feast of Consequences is close in its own way in my view). Excellent sq from flac streamed via Hugo
Not an artist I have seen posted on here often. Great album.
Walter Bishop Jnr Speak Low.
Love this Album
Tori Amos, From the Choirgirl Hotel, because Mrs Dayjay insisted

The Traveling Wilburys Collection. Volume 1 on HDCD remastered in 2007. Probably the best sounding CD I own. Evaluating some tweaks to my rack set-up and this is an excellent reference.
Robert Cray. Strong Persuader. On CD from 1986. Inspired by Ewe and Larry's posts above. Probably among the first 10 CDs I ever bought, living in Juneau at the time.

Rush, Power Windows, another gold/platinum album from 85, although it wasn't well received by many who considered it a 'cold' album, I love it and it is probably my favourite Rush album of the 80s. One of the albums that put more focus on keyboards than guitars it still had very strong lyrics and typically complex Rush musical structure. 24 bit flac version, which is well worth the extra over the 16 bit version, streamed via Hugo
David Gilmour. About Face. On Columbia vinyl from 1984. Following Larry's lead again on the artist. Gilmour's second solo album.
On vinyl.
