John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Originally released in 1970, this is the 2000 CD. I find the digital remix/remasters of Lennon's albums supervised by Yoko Ono from 2000-2004 are the best sounding versions. Much greater clarity than on the Spector produced vinyl versions.
Long time not played. A special pleasure after eight days with no music.
Creedence Clearwater Revival. Cosmo's Factory 40th Anniversary Edition. On CD from 2008, the original LP was released in 1970, so you do the math. I like the sound of this one, for a CD. The extra tracks are cool. Hard for me to decide on my favorite CCR album but if you claim this one I wouldn't argue.
Delicate playing while I also like Lang Langs playing of these pieces
Hi Bert,
how do you rip your music to get 2116kb files? And does it make a difference?
thanks
Ralph
Hi Ralph,
i didn't tip this one I bought this one directly as download from Hyperion records who offered at with this bit depth (24), normal cd's wouldn't offer you this. So even if you would transcode it like that it would be meaningless up sampling. The only way to rio higher bits and sampling frequencies to my knowledge is to rip from dvd's or blu Rays which can have a better quality signal.
this one is by the way a nice recording, so one would say that the richness would come through, while I couldn't heard an a b with a cd version. Hope this clarifies.
Refreshingly different
“Tell Tale Signs” Vol. 8 of the "official" Bootleg Series contains 27 tracks from the albums Oh Mercy through to 2006's Modern Times. Outstanding tracks include two versions of "Mississippi", "Most of the Time," "Red River Shore", a live version of "Ring Them Bells" and the final track "'Cross the Green Mountain".
Dave
A 1972 classic
CD Rip, streamed in FLAC from my NAS - JJ Cale - "Grasshopper"
If you know JJ Cale then I don't need to say much about this album. If you don't know JJ Cale then find an album or two of his to listen to (not necessarily this one), because he is one of 'the true Greats'. Possibly try "Naturally", "Okie", "Troubadour" or "5" for your first listen.
I have most, if not all of his albums on one format or another.
Followed by:
Another CD Rip from my NAS:
You probably love them or hate them in equal numbers, but you've got to admire the beards!
Lonely Broken Angel - Arash.
Rounding off an eclectic morning's listen for me:
On vinyl from 1976L Loudon Wainwright III - "T-Shirt":
A typically entertaining and amusing album from Rufus & Martha's dad.
Followed by again on vinyl from 1975: The Marshall tucker Band - "Searchin' for a Rainbow"
Excellent Country/Soul/Rock album (possibly my favourite) from a vey good Country/Soul/Rock band.
Not an artist I have seen posted on here often. Great album.
Indeed! Sadly he passed away but songs like Handsome Molly will always remain!
Yep!
CD Rip from my NAS: Little Feat - "Dixie Chicken"
About to play this before heading off to the gym (starting my New Year's resolutions early this year) - almost certainly my favourite of many Little Feat albums I have. I have this one on vinyl as well as on CD.
Just a fantastic all round album!
John Hiatt
"Crossing Muddy Waters" (2000)
More or less an acoustic JH album, this was my entry point to his music 10 years ago, now I am near to having his complete catalogue. Wonderful songwriting and the man can rock.
John Meyer
"Where The Light Is: Live In Los Angeles" disc 2 (2008)
Not an artist I have seen posted on here often. Great album.
Indeed! Sadly he passed away but songs like Handsome Molly will always remain!
Never knew he had gone to the great songwriter in the sky. Sad news.
Yep!
Saw him way back in the 70's with about 50 other people in a room. Brilliant gig.
Using it to help break in some silver interconnects I have made up this morning.
Laura Veirs
"Warp & Weft" (2013)
(2009)
Purchased this year. Interested to listen to her other albums. I think the most recent will be up next.
top of the pile:
Natalia Zukerman
"Come Thief Come Fire" (2014)
Not an artist I have seen posted on here often. Great album.
Indeed! Sadly he passed away but songs like Handsome Molly will always remain!
Never knew he had gone to the great songwriter in the sky. Sad news.
There are songs in this record like These cold fingers that can leave touched everytime.
Btw i've this as well but imho it's not so good

Red Snapper ~ Making Bones
From 1999
"Dark, but very funky, almost jazzy, some would say drum 'n' funk. This is not hip hop, this is not drum and bass, this is something else, something far far better."
