The Nice ~Nice

Just finished listening to this really rather excellent album, which I haven't heard in decades! Originally from '69 but this one remastered and including some great live tracks from the Filmore East and a BBC Session (Roy Harper getting in on the act there).

Inspired by Steve's post.

Wussy

"Attica"    (2014)

Recommended by Anthony Mason on "CBS This Morning: Saturday".  Some old-timers who have music in their blood, won't quit, and still know how to rock 'n roll.

ps:   Anthony's guests tomorrow on CBS This Morning: Saturday are "She & Him" (M.Ward and Zooey Deschanel)

Steven Osborne's best album so far. The Medtner sonata is a revelation - I have never heard this dense clump of notes played so... persuasively. In my mind, he squarely outplays his Canadian team mate, Hamelin. The Rach works are impressive as well although we're in much more familiar territory. Osborne is a great pianist but can seem polished and thought through to a fault - but not here. Hyperion's best solo piano release this year. (And you know this is true, because it rhymes).

Regards,

EJ

Coldplay

"Parachutes"    (2000)

One of the bands uber-cool people love to hate, I just enjoy the music and spend little time thinking about the band or its members.  I guess that makes me outstandingly uncool.

I'm certainly not uber cool, but I still think Coldplay are dreadful. But I bet they are a million times more popular than....
