"They Want My Soul" (2014)
infectious pop/rock/garage tunes
SONIC YOUTH SONIC NURSE - special edition compact disc, (2004).
this seems to have just the right vibe to after Zuma.
NEIL YOUNG - ZUMA - c.d.
has just the right vibe to it after 'Flat Baroque..', 'Danger Bird' is my favourite song on this album.
Jeff,
You might want to have a listen to these albums on CD or Spotify?

The Beat were a brilliant band.
When they called it a day and met Roland Gift they morphed into The Fine Young Cannibals.![]()

I was reading about that on Spotify earlier, I will explore The Beat further. Appreciated.

I havent played this for a while
top of the pile:

Van Morrison
"No Guru, No Method, No Teacher"
With thanks to Gian, this is one of my "go to" albums when I am in the mood for some Van.
Also enjoy Too Long In Exile (with John Lee Hooker), Beautiful Vision and Keep It Simple from time to time.

Music on Vinyl x3 ![]()
I have been wondering how the SQ on this compares with the CD version - does anyone have experience of both.
Thanks
Clive
Not me sorry however, the music on these three albums is superb and the SQ from a digital source is good. So would imagine the CD set will sound ok.
Thanks - in fact it's the other way round - I have the CDs and I agree about the music. I was wondering if the vinyl would be an improvement. The CDs have gone through something called the No-noise system to reduce tape hiss - and no doubt interfering with other elements of the sound quality. I might get in touch with MoV who do sometimes respond to queries of this sort.
CD rip. My favourite by this Alt-Country (Wilco/Jayhawks/Big Star/Run Westy Run) collective. Not listened to this for a while but it hangs together despite the number of different writers and vocalists. Might just dig out some more Jayhawks after this.
I've always had a soft spot for Suzanne Vega, and for this album from 1985. Its one of the first albums I owned and played a lot on CD, and one of the first modern, at that time, folk/pop albums I really got into. Flac streamed via Hugo which is really good at bringing out music that is deceptively simple and laying it out before you, detailed and layered but still beautifully musical. A great album, and along wth Solitude Standing, heartily recommended

An overly simple title headlines an intelligently programmed disc of Christmas hymns and motets, grouped to form a painting in the mind. And it works quite well, too (once you've read the notes, at least). Also without the heady stuff, a very entertaining record that for once doesn't include any Bach.
Cheers,
EJ

Whenever someone posts a reply on this thread the very top line of the post window notates "how long ago it was posted".
Does anyone know exactly when it changes from "1 hour ago" to "60 minutes ago" as it does above on this page.
At some point this could be critical information !!!!
( I have too much time on my hands )
good listening,

It really did say that, but, alas, time moves on and so shall I.

Tindersticks
"The Hungry Saw" (2008)

More good work from Rademann:

One can only imagine what dad thought of his son's Magnificat, compared to his own - the compositions are only about 25 years apart, and sound utterly different.

Haven't listened to it for a while, Steve. I wish I had the original as it sounds a bit muffled on Spotify.

Back in the late 70s I had to search for ages to find a copy of this - I think it must have got deleted and there were few 2nd hand copies about. Spirit were great, both in their original formation and in the later Randy California/Ed Cassidy group. Spirit of 76, the double album, is a classic in my opinion.
