Still this is one of my favourite Bach No.1.

Simply his is the a lot more engaging to listen to because it's affectionately played. Gould shows astonishing degrees of maturity at 25. He lets me hear Bach in all new light making me appreciate how fresh this 200 year old tunes can be. Plus a good vive between Gould and Bernstein.

I've had this one on my radar for a while hoping to find an original pressing. Finally got the Rhino vinyl a few months back and agree with you Steve. It's quite good SQ. Kind of an overlooked, quirky Doors album, but I love the music, esp the brass.

Me too. I especially like CTK on Live Rust.

Live Rust

Neil Young, Crazy HorseVinyl

A mint copy I found in the used bin for $5 on a business trip to Savannah, GA a few years ago.

Nice find, Larry. I bought Live Rust when it was released and also attended a midnight showing of the movie when it premiered. It had a grainy look, kind of like rust raining down. The roadies looked like monks in robes with big glowing eyes and there were giant amps/harmonica props.

Fluid, but too safe. A Musak-Bach.

The Beatles. Yesterday and Today. On Capitol vinyl with Apple label from 1975. Originally released in 1966. A Capitol amalgamation of Help, Rubber Soul, Revolver and several singles. I bought this in September of 1975 and played it repeatedly, as I had few LPs at the time.

Good call. My first time playing this since around 1986. Cleaned on the RCM and sounding better than ever on an RP6.

Collection of various *reconstructed* concertos for different instruments.

Rhythmically alive and extremely well tuned bouncy performance in spite non percussive instrument as a solo. Accompanying harpsichord adds rich textures and interests. Violin is lightening quick and lyrical remaining naturally flowing. I miss a bit of percussive impact at some spots in fast moving Allegro movements but Adagio works in favour for violin with sweet sensual legato phrasing giving a romantic quality. This certainly does not sound like a typical HIP.

Added bonus is that this recording from 1999 is excellent. Quite natural and very little distortion, if any, and that the up close and personal instruments give plenty of clarity and details.

Sonic Youth  "Dirty" deluxe edition c.d..

usual high level, but not as exciting as the Whirlwind was....

I have become a fan of Jean-Efflam, he has a very transparent and fluent style. I loved his work on Debussy and Haydn, now with Ravel he also plays it in a very exciting way....

a very intimate and exciting album, a good balance between the old established player and the more or less young guy on the block....
