Robin Trower ~ Twice Removed from Yesterday
Originally released on the Chrysalis label in 1973 this is a well remastered CD from 2010 and forms part of his 5 CD Studio Album Series box set I bought earlier this year. Slightly slower paced and perhaps a little more bluesy in parts than his later work, this, his first solo album, is very good indeed. I seem to be enjoying RT's sound and style of play more as I age!
Aye Steve,
Mr Trower is 69 and still going strong. It's a shame that James Dewar is no more. I'm planning to see the RT band at Bury St Edmunds next March.
It looks like it's Glasgow for you on 4th April.
Good listening.
John.

Thanks for the heads up John. I missed him earlier this year when he played Aberdeen so its good to know I can get another chance (reasonably) nearby in April. Note to self to get organised!

From one Hellhound Train (live 2011) to another...
... this one their 1972 studio album Hellhound Train. This CD released in '99. The only track in common with the 2011 live album being the title.

What's the recording/mastering quality like Jeff. I got 'Dirty Jeans' on your recommendation and the SQ is so bad, I can't listen to it.

John.
I do not listen to music for SQ. I have made that clear frequently. I would never not listen to music because I thought the sound of a recording was sub-par. Based on your statement, I would not choose to comment further on anything I listen to.

so here is a copy of that exchange, I believe your dislike of the SQ is your problem, I posted what I was listening to:

Thanks Jeff. Dunno how this one slipped past me as a big fan of JH. Lovely. CD duly ordered.
I hope life is treating you and yours well.
John.
Hi John
You are certainly welcome.
Expect you noticed also he has a new one out soon, July release in the US.
Am doing well, retiring in the next 90 days and looking forward to even more time with Heidi and my music.
best regards
Jeff A
I tend to use songs from this this as a test of new kit but today I thought I'd play it all the way through. I like most of Seal's work but I think this, his first album, is probably his best. Excellent production quality too.
A nice counter-point to my earlier listen to Seal. A Stone's Throw From the Soul on this is a wonderful song.
Hospitality "Trouble" (2014)
Jenny Lewis "The Voyager" (2014)
Just finishing off a self indulgent musical day with my favourite Roxy album, old vinyl still sounding great. Not sure which stars have been in alignment but LP12 has been in sterling form today
Forgot to post this one earlier - original Riverside
On vinyl.
John.
