Hello,

I thinks it is good music.  I also enjoy their release Smother.

Modern pop with electronic elements, not far removed from bands like Future Islands, Beach House, Phantogram, The Temper Trap, Real Estate, and even influences like David Gray. Falsetto vocals, very melodic.

I think 2014 has been a great year for this style of music.  I have over 40 releases from this year stored in a folder on Spotify and enjoy all of them.

No comments on sound quality, that is for others to judge.  I listen to mp3.

Regards

Jeff A

Great album!

There isn't a bad sounding version of the disc. I have the MFSL, Japanese 1st and also the Demon UK version with the following cover.

Which version do you have the original mastering or the later remaster?

The MFSL vinyl version sounds quite good as well. Love the "family portrait" cover ewemon.

Simply Vinyl reissue.

Love the title track.

The rest is a bluesy guitar rock.

Steely Dan. Aja. The original "AA 1006" pressing on ABC Records label from 1977. Sounds wonderful to me and this is my third listen this weekend. The second "AB" pressing mastered by Bernie Grundman supposedly sounds even better, and is considered by some to be the holy grail of the many versions of this great LP. But who can believe all the whackos out there on the other fora ? Bottom line is that it's a very well recorded and produced LP. I think it would serve as a great reference LP except that the music never really gets all that complex in any given moment.

Hi Joerand, I also enjoyed my aa1006 copy of Aja last night . I also have a copy of ab1006 both are mastered by BernievGrundman, and if ab sounds better it will take a good turntable to reveal it imo.

Hi Ewemon! I have the 1987 395 158-2 made in Germany. Inner sleeve reports "digitally remastered" at A&M in USA by Alan Yoshida. Copy is good but with all these remasters you wonder if they can go further up.....

Prompted by an earlier post. I had never considered Jack's solo work, so first dip in. An interesting story re album title. On Spotify connect via Muso :-

Jack Bruce - Songs For A Tailor.

Seems like a good album, sort of familiar but new, (to me).

(2013)

Nothing to compare it to (I may have heard other versions on the radio), but I do like this album.
