London Grammar
"If You Wait"
(2014) mp3
Nice one Jeff, I think I'll join you.
Overkill I know, but I have it on CD, CD rip to FLAC, Hi Res 24 bit download and vinyl. I prefer the sound of the vinyl version to the others.
Small point, it was a 2013 release, which is just was well, it has been one of my most played albums of the year.
You are correct, it says 2013 right on my screen, I put it in the wrong file. Sorry.
I only found out about this recording from the numerous mentions of it on this thread. I enjoy it whenever I listen to it.

Ryan Adams
"Ryan Adams"

On vinyl from 1980: Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - "Against the Wind"
Don't like this quite as much as some of his earlier stuff, but it's still good!
Keith Jarrett
"The Cure"
(1990) mp3
with Jack DeJohnette - drums and Gary Peacock - bass
+1 especially the title track, pure Jarrett (ripped CD).
Dave
frank black - honeycomb - on c.d. (2005)
dark songs of loss, hurt, and of unease, goes easy listening on this one - a bit David Lynchesque.
FKA Twigs - LP1

If you like big band, it doesn't get any better than this (Impulse, 1997 gatefold reissue, IMP-222).

Heavy rock - first album (of three to date) collaboration between Joe Bonamassa, bassist Glen Hughes (who had spells in Deep Purple and Sabbath), drummer Jason Bonham and keyboard player Derek Sherinian (Planet X and Dream Theatre).

What do you think of their follow-up album - BCC 2 dayjay?
Kuma,
This is another choice on ECM of Schubert's Fantasie C-Dur D 934. How is your German?

And here is the Schiff / Shiokawa version:
My impression after two spins of the discs (2) is just so so. The oud clearly looses its ambiance and delicate sound among the large company of instruments. I much prefer his trios and quartets. Hopefully they will not think of featuring Brahem next with a marching band since that is going to be a complete disaster.

Depends on my mood. If I want to relax with the music I will definitely play Schiff and Shiokawa. The Lonquich / Widmann performance has much more energy and the sound with closer miking (I think) is much livelier and engaging. I wonder if that would have bothered Franz..
The Who. The Ultimate Collection. 2 CD set from 2002. This is a nice sampling of songs and sounds decent enough, but I still prefer my Who on vinyl.
Down tempo deep house grooves from Detroit.
Analogue Productions' Classic Records reissue of Lt. Kije.
Compared to my later pressing noisy original, this is a no brainer albeit the massed strings became thinner. They at least did not make it sound stark as some of the Speaker's Corner or HQ reissues. Tape hiss is still present but dramatically lowered noise floor mean that there are more details and buried musical notes are heard.
Perhaps, a subtle layering of instrument in the poignant final movement sounds a bit too obvious, tho.

Haim,
I can't relax with any of Schubert's late work as there's always a hint of pain and feeling of resignation there. Some performance bring out the underlying melancholia much more than others.
This is such a pretty tune and I've recently discovered it. ( the other fantasies seem to be much more popular )
Neil Young & Crazy Horse. Rust Never Sleeps. On original vinyl from 1979. One of my favorite NY albums. Acoustic on side 1, electric on side 2, most of it was recorded live with crisp and dynamic acoustics. Contains two of my favorite NY songs; 'Thrasher' and 'Powderfinger'. I remember going to see the movie, at midnight, back in the day.
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART AND THE MAGIC BAND - ICE CREAM FOR CROW - c.d.
On vinyl
Sorry
